The only good thing about this is that The Watchtower's has probably lost a lot of money!

well, religion is stronger than it has ever been.
The United Nations probably won't exist in another 50 years. it
is completely impotent.
things happen, people adjust, some profit some lose.
in this case, cheating CEO's of large banks profited
and people lost. This is pretty typical.
The US is a feudal society heading towards socialism.
The dream of everyone being able to live the
American dream has been stolen by those who cheat and
rob the system.
The U.S. is heading for implosion due to its heavy debt.
Things will be different. -

Hey; they have to be able to celebrate something. Everything else is out. Maybe we should market "end of the world" balloons, candles, cards, etc.

Another end to an empire.

The good news is...if I may steal that lame phraseology....is that when the end DOESNT COME again, even more people whose hopes of world demise have once again been crushed, will leave the Borg.
How many times do they have to get their hopes up? How many times can a person TAKE this up and down up and down crap? Its like Jonah under the gourd tree with them...
"God...I didnt WANT to be a prophet but you MADE me be a prophet and I went and made a damn fool out of myself preaching to all these people in Ninevah telling them to repent or you were gonna go destroy them. And now what...you didnt destroy them and I look even MORE like a damn fool!"
So why wouldnt the Witnesses instead say look...our preaching work has forestalled Jehovahs destruction of the earth! Its a WONDERFUL thing! Lets continue to preach! But nooooooooo...they sit under their gourd trees pissing and moaning because they WANT to see the world end. They ENJOY destruction, death, mahem, earthquakes, wars, starvation...it builds them UP!
How backasswards IS THAT???

Well, here I thought to start a thread on this topic. (40 yrs. in and 3 out of JW) and here it is:
Now, Mr. "Stillajwelder" My thoughts are since I was always taught in the "truth" that Bab. the great was basically the caltholic church, even though they said it was "all organized religion" it seems to me that Bab. the Great is the Stock Market (or the economy) and the references made in Rev.18: 9-20 don't seem to directed towards organized religion anymore to me. Yes, I still believe it is the beginning of the end....however believe it is decades away, or at least a decade.
There are so many things to come and all comes so slowly that when I was 17 and first preached to (I am now almost 59) that I was told THAT time was the end. Yes, I gave up my life all those years, (college and such) and now have very little. Things move very slowly.
Looks like the JW's were wrong about Bab. the great to me. Love, Glad to be out....Sasha in Florida

A few days ago my husband said that we should start going to the meetings again because the economy is so bad. So, I asked him why and he said because witnesses help each other!

That is a great point regarding the Babylon the Great fall....So if the finnancial system collapse first then WT has got wrong AGAIN!!!!
Like many times and specially with the King of North and South. It seems like an endless story to me. Specially now with Russias powerfull come back in the world wide political scene.
Fact is, the three entities that came out of Babylon were the superstitions of religion, the system of usury, and the political designation of positions being held by reason other than bloodlines.
It was in your face all along...the "three frogs croaking".
Points of interest:
The First Council of Nicaea in 325, forbade clergy from engaging in usury. [1]
Lateran III decreed that persons who accepted interest on loans could receive neither the sacraments nor Christian burial.[3]Pope Clement V made the belief in the right to usury heresy in 1311, and abolished all secular legislation which allowed it.[4]Pope Sixtus V condemned the practice of charging interest as "detestable to God and man, damned by the sacred canons and contrary to Christian charity."[4]
Profits from usury do not arise from any substantial labor or work but from mere avarice, greed, trickery and manipulation. In addition, usury creates a divide between people due to obsession for monetary gain. Most importantly, usury commodifies biological time for profit, which is linked to life, considered sacred...
the term "usury" is largely derrived from Abrahamic religious principles..... so, in actuality, it is related to religious doctrine and false religions.
