JW Witnessed To Hijacker

  JW Urban Legend making the rounds:

  A few months ago a Brother from Vero Beach, Florida in the course of his
  normal door-to-door ministry witnessed to a women of "middle eastern
  descent." She seemed interested in his message and accepted the two
  magazines he offered. As she took the magazines a man came to the door whom
  she introduced as her brother. Her brother asked who they were and what they
  wanted. Our Brother explained that he was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and
  that they came to talk about the Bible. A few words were exchanged and the
  woman's brother looked at the magazines, and said that it looked interesting
  and that he would look into it.
  This week the house was on the news in Vero Beach and our Brother recognized
  it as the home of the women and man he spoke with. Our Brother called his
  wife to look at the television. The house was the home of the sister of the
  man who commandeered the first plane that hit the World Trade Center. He
  took flight training in the area. The terrorist's name has been on the news
  the past few days, but I would prefer not to include it in this E-mail. The
  Brother told me that after seeing the man's picture on TV he had no doubt who
  he was talking to.

  One reason this can't be true: A Muslim woman, a devout one, will not talk to a man, not known to her.

  I had a 'return visit' with a Muslim woman, years ago. She was real sweet, and wore the full black robe when she was out in public. At her home, she dressed pretty normally. I called on her one time, with the CO, (she was holding a scarf around her hair) and she would not even look at him. When he talked to her, she would look at me, and answer to me. Later I went to her home again, and she explained that she can't talk to a man without her husband being right there too, and asked me not to bring a man with me.

  This "story" is being passed JW to JW as "true". I am the one who labeled it as "UL".

  Now, your assumptions put me in the position of defending this JW story.

  Where in this "story" does it say the woman was a "Muslim", much less a "devout" Muslim?

  And even if she were a "devout Muslim", how do you know that her idea of being "devout" is to the extremes to which you witnessed? There are numerous interpretations of Islam, and not all "devout" Muslims follow the same practices.

  My uncle has told us a similar story. He told us a friend of his had spoken directly to the alleged witness who spoke to the terrorist (I believe Mohammed Atta). However, according to my uncles story, the terrorist guy refused to take the magazines and was quite abrupt with the Witness, telling him he "wasn't interested" once he realized they were pedalling religious material. The rest of the story was similiar to the one here mentioned.

  Go therefore and baptize the people in the name of the father and of the son... what the hell, we just need to bring up the yearbook numbers!
