My all time favourite, Mr Gary Numan. He toured Australia once 28yrs ago and my die-hard dub mum wouldnt let me see him in concert (broken hearted at 15). A few weeks ago, my daughter's friend who is an editor for a music website/magazine told me he's touring in march 09 and " I've got a phone interview lined up with gary WOULD YOU LIKE TO INTERVIEW HIM? " "HECK YES I WOULD" So I spoke to gary for ages, a super nice guy. AND i already have my tickets. (Mum, I'm an apostate and im seeing Gary Numan this time, just try and stop me!)

The video I posted that would not play was Gary Numan's "It Must Have Been Years":

The whole album is great, but this song is super special to me. Brings back lots of memories of flying to Europe for the first time a summer long ago. It is the song I still want to listen to while flying. It just sounds magnificent while looking down on the clouds.

Hi Leolaia Sorry it was Avi that posted a Depeche Mode track that wouldn't play. Someone Somewhere in Summertime is an amazing track. Did you know that they are touring and will be performing the whole of New Gold Dream!? Pub

No, I'm so out-to-touch with touring, wow! You've got such perfect choices, especially the ones from Spandau Ballet, Simple Minds, and the Smiths. Love those songs. Here is my fave from Spandau Ballet, I don't listen to it often but when I hear it my eyes tear up because it transports me back to '84 (best year in music) so perfectly.

I have to disagree re 80s music!
However I will concede that music was so eclectic then that it was very difficult to pigeon hole and left you in a real quandary if you wanted to "belong to a scene"
I gave up trying and just accepted that I liked lots of different stuff - i still do.
Again I'll concede that the fashions weren't exactly timeless LOL
It was also the era of the synthesizer which meant lots of experimentation and very fast progression. Inevitably that left some sounds quickly going out of fashion and/or being over used.
Anyone remember these - probably not US posters . . .
