    blah blah blah. http://taxprof.typepad.com/taxprof_blog/2004/09/red_states_feed.html

That's what most posts say. Republicans claim Obama is a Socialist.

Really? They don't care for Socialism, those red states? Then why are 76% of RED states receiving MORE federal aid than they pay in federal taxes?

And why are those Socialist Blue states receiving less?

Perhaps it's because the word 'socialist' can serve as a Pavlovian trigger to the lower educated, higher poverty Southern states, almost all of which are .....RED

Just a little dishonest. Your link was written by a guy with an agenda. He left out, purposely, some very key facts. First, the states receiving the least aid per income are the states that hold ALL the wealth, Ca, and NY. I mean that's what you want right, the rich supporting the poor?

But he left out one more very important fact, What state counties received to most aid?

The county report shows the top five recipient county areas
    were:

    Rank County/County Equivalent Amount
1 New York City, NY $40.6 billion
2 Los Angeles County, CA $40.2 billion
3 Cook County, IL $23.0 billion
4 San Diego County, CA $16.5 billion
5 Philadelphia County, PA $12.2 billion

    Again, damn good try though!!

New York City and LA are the two most populous areas of the U.S., so of course they're going to receive a bigger piece of the pie. I'd be interested to know how those numbers work out on a per capita basis, and how they compare to the per capita numbers of the major urban centers of red states.

Republican socialism = wealth redistribution from joe taxpayer to the corporation.

Democrat socialism = wealth redistribution from joe taxpayer to those who don't work, or don't make much, or work under the table.

Which brand of socialism will you choose?

BA- Republican/Democrat = 2 sides of the same coin.

I've come to the conclusion that most of the time people spouting off against socialism or social programs are hypocrites.

I compare them to those zealous JW's that hate the world and all the people in it. The government is their enemy. They oppose war and you can be disfellowshipped for being part of the service. Yet many JW's hold positions in schools teaching the very kids they can't stand and most certainly wouldn't let their own kids associate with. They decry the government but feel justified in using all the services they offer and in fact are kept poor and then sent to the welfare office to apply for food stamps. How about the pensions delivered to the now JW veterans? JW's turn away NO help from the government and people they hate.

Those people like John McCain who keep spouting off about socialism and redistribution of wealth - still get their war pensions. McCain, his daddy and his granddaddy all recieved socialized welfare in the form of free, top notch health care - funded by Joe the Plumber. Palin decries socialism but she has a downs child who will take Joe's tax dollars in order to provide special ed for her child. I've come to the conclusion that if people really hate that 'redistribution of wealth' they scream about, if they scream about all those losers and takers, all those liberal pond scum; if they really believe that taking care of their own is what they stand for - then every single one of them should round up their parents who are on social security and send the checks back. Take care of your parents if they can't do it without help. Every one of them should cease medicare or medicaid for the folks in their family and take care of them all themselves. They should not allow their kids or their family members to use any of the welfare systems or free government grants for school, or lunch programs put on by the school system, or after school programs paid for by other tax payers. If all those people stopped using all those socialized programs there would be enough money in the kitty for the rest of us and we could even get a raise.

A lot of talk but when it comes right down to it but a Republican, regardless of whether it's Joe the Plumber or Tito the Carpenter, Molly the Waitress or McCain/Palin the dumbling duo - has their hand out just as fast and sometimes faster as any other person when it comes to a feeling of entitlement. A lot of talk about nothing...cos they certainly don't take the high road. sammieswife.

And I was talking about Federal Aid to states. I just posted the state counties that received the most Federal Aid. You tried to imply that the "blue" states receive the least amount of aid. That is simply not true as far as dollar amounts go. The latest figures I could find is for fiscal year 2004. In that year, according to the Census Bureau, California received $47,283,000,000 in Federal Aid, next on the list is New York which received $42,576,000,000. The next closest one is Texas at $25,674,000,000. Cali almost doubled theirs! And as far as the R's and D's go, sooner or later people will start to realize, there is very very little that separates the 2 parties.
