His mother says he was "brainwashed," poor delicate child.
    His father asks for mercy.

After all, he only volunteered to join the Jihad to kill western infidels like his Mom and Dad. He thought the events of September 11 were justified.

He wants to be a martyr for Allah and enjoy his six dozen houris in paradise.

I'm undecided: should he be charged with treason and subjected to a jury trial, with the prospect of hanging if he's found guilty, or should his American citizenship simply be forever revoked so he can wander the sands of time as a man without a country?

    What sayest thou?

If he actually said the 911 attack was justified he should never be allowed in this country again.

He should be skinned alive and thrown in a tub of salt water.

From Associated press via Yahoo search engine:

"Lindh('s father) said he was concerned about some statements his son reportedly made supporting the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and the Taliban's resistance to the U.S. anti-terrorism campaign."

It occurred to me that his mother's claim that he's just a kid - he's 20 - doesn't work too well when you realize that some of the US Marines servng in Afghanistan may be the same age.

Think about this: 35 years ago this congregation overseer said in a highigh powered talk," I know one thing, if the society told me to get up and martch toward that wall over there I would do it because I kknow either the wall would open up or I would be able to march right up the wall, Why,? because Jehovah instructed them to tell me to do that. This is how sure I am it is God's organization." He was at that time 40 years old. He was brain washed. The same with this Walker kid. His religious beleif system played him for a fool just as we were played for so many years.

His punishment is a question. He deffenatly needs to be debrainwashed...that is another story.

Did he actually do a crime, or just think about doing a crime? If only thinking, should he be punished for his thoughts, even if they weren't his own?

A person could argue that we're ALL "brainwashed."
(I wouldn't agree with that, but the argument could be made.)

Nevertheless, we are responsible for our decisions and our actions.

What if (ha ha) the Talian/Al Qaeda had kicked US ass? He would be dancing with his Muslim "brothers" in celebration.

What if he wasn't simply injured and captured, but died in his holy war?

He made his choice. He can dance at the end of a rope on his way to his magnificent Lord Allah.

SaintSatan - I would think that travelling to Afghanistan for the purpose of fighting with Al Qaeda is pretty much 'doing the crime" in this case. He wasn't exactly selling magazines from door-to-door when he was apprehended.

Forgetting Lindh for a minute. Do you think the american media, with the amount of control and influence the govt has on it, is NOT using brainwash tactics on the public? Come on. They are probably the best brainwashers in the world. After all, they have one of the larger, most powerful masses of people to controll: the american public. Massaging public opinion is very important. Politicians know this better than anyone. It works the best when people can't sense it. One psychiatrist said that his patients were all in a permanent partially hypnotised state. All he claimed to be doing to cure them was to dehypnotise them.
