I never thought of bands like Led Zeppelin as debasing.
These would come on MTV and I was supposed to be shocked as heck by them. But I had to admit to myself that they were pretty steamy. I didn't turn the channel.

There was a group of us 30ish elders and a few MS and wives plus some singles that really got into Disco in the '70's. Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, The Bee Gees, Joe Tex, etc etc. I had them all on 8 track. We all saw Sat Night fever, Thank God It's Friday, then a couple or three dance parties and pretty soon it was a major point of contention with the older generation of elders.
CC is about as tame as you can get. I think it was the picture of Boy George on the cover that freaked them out.
(sorry...excuse me, sorry...slight detour no hijack)
Just remembered! I had the first Ricki Lee Jones album and she was smoking a cigarette on the cover. My mother THREW the cover away, lol, not the album! Looking back on it, it seems just nutty, and in some small way, she didn't want to interfere with my music, just an offending cover...a cigarette! Nuts I tell ya, bless her.
Do you remember all the hubbub about Jim Morrison's "American Prayer" album? So a sister had it, had a "demunz" attack, then wanted all of us to destroy our Doors albums. Not!
