Or whatever it's called. That thing the UN is holding yesterday and today. The one about 'Peace and Religion'. Could this be it? I mean the UN is actually DISCUSSING, religion... The time-bomb topic.... The conference they're having ends today, so does that mark today as the start of the GT? x.x

A UN conference on religous tolerance led by someone from Saudi Arabia! The irony is overwhelming.
I dont doubt that witnesses will be waiting for an announcement, they will be disappointed whatever resolution is made because it is never to going to be the expected (by JWs) ban on religion.
Start of the gt? delayed indefinately.

Are you sure it's nothing?

I really dont know why you worry about this stuff. If it is it Joewhorebah will murder you for your hair colour alone. If he does, why not at least go down with a little dignity and pride? Say middle finger sticking up at him?
If its nothing, then its nothing why worry about it?

The UN has to tread a very fine line, in order to achieve anything it must be inclusive of all countries and cannot afford to be promoting a policy completely at odds with the views of it's member countries, any kind of 'ban' on religion would not be tolerated as UN policy by any of the islamic countries, Israel, USA, most of Europe, India. In fact I cannot think of a single country that might support such a policy.
There is no benefit to any incumbent government in banning religion except where religious freedom encourages dissent against that government, with China being an obvious example. The chinese government would be unlikely to try and export such policies since it is having a difficult enough time in world politics as it is trying to justify it's human rights record.
Suppose however that the UN did manage to set a resolution to ban religion, what would it mean? The UN has no real power over sovereign governments, just because the UN makes a resolution does not mean that member countries have to change laws.
I would think the tone of any discussion within the UN on the subject of religion is likely to focus on tolerance between differing faiths and an increase in religious freedoms rather than going the other way.
I may not be certain but I would be willing to bet next months paycheck on it.

EXACTLY...i always thought this was one of WT most stupid of stupid ideas....the UN has so little power they can hardly ever get anything done in one little country somewere....and they are somehow going to get something done WORLDWIDE by a stupid resoulution??....and the most powerful country in the world was founded for and because wanting freedom of religion?....and some muslims have faith so strong they blow themselves up willingly.....others applaud that....and they are going to just give up religion?....geeze..........oompa

I don't know of anyone or any countries for that matter that take the UN too seriously except for jw's. I doubt this is the first time the UN has taken up the subject of religion.
Think to yourself, has the wt ever in all of it's history ever gotten any prophecy right?

Hikaru, the more posts of yours I read the more I wonder if you are looking for attention or paranoid? Sorry to be so blunt, but the only time I see you posting here is when you seem to think the world is coming to an end. Chicken Little comes to mind... The world isn't coming to an end, quit being irrational.
