Letters to the Editor

Has anyone on here used the method of sending a letter to the editor of their local paper, either exposing some of the WT's general misdeeds ie: child abuse, shunning, etc. or something perpetrated on them personally? If so, has anyone sent one to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram? Because I think I'm going to. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Do you think they would really print it? I have taken out some paid ads (especially around the time of their recruiting efforts around Easter) in our local newspapers but I highly doubt if the newspapers in my small town would print anything against a "religion" as in a letter to the editor, I don't know that for a fact, but that is just what I think.

I say give it a whirl what can you lose, you may just get a hearing ear and have a great article in a newpaper , their are always news reporters looking for tidbits and religious scandal to perk up a drearly town paper.

Good luck. Let us know what happens.

I've actually been thinking about writing the next time the Star Telegram has an update on the YZF ranch scandal. You know, the Fundie Latter Day Saints in West Texas. I think a response about the WT's coverup of abuse would help to keep it fresh in the public's mind.

There, now maybe search engines won't bring this up. And no, I'm not worried about JW's finding it. I'm worried about non-JW's thinking I'm nuts for ever being in it.

Something I suggested on another thread was,try slipping in the info. that it is easy to get put on the JW "Do Not Call" list.just simply but firmly ask them next time they call, you can hang this on to a story about bogus callers or something,as though your main concern is reducing crime, not Witness bashing.

If enough people do this it would knock the silly door to door stuff.

Many editors won't print the letter exactly as you wrote it. They strike out portions that might offend some readers, including JWs. Such letters are also an invitation to JWs to write to the paper to contradict what you've written. Since they don't mind fudging the facts in order to make their organization look good, they won't hesitate to misrepresent portions of your letter. In the end, some readers will be left with the impression that the poor little defenseless JWs are being persecuted for their beliefs. And this is the type of so-called "persecution" that JWs thrive on. Surprisingly, some members of the public will also write a letter to defend the JWs, though some will also write to express agreement with your letter.
