Yeah, the odd number of whiplash cases tipped em off.

A couple of them rock out quite well when you transpose the chords into power chords. Can't remember which ones and I don't have a songbook to hand to find them........maybe one day.

Yeah...I remember the albums that were sung by god awful singers that went along with that maroon song book.

My family are hardcore dubs and even we couldn't bear to listen to them any place other than the kingdom hall.

Even when I was well in, never had the Kingdom Melodies tapes at home; nor any of the Bible readings on tapes, videos, etc. I never really did see the point!

If you think listening to the meetings and the music is bad just try listening to video tapes of the crap. My wife has gotten them a few times when she could not get to the meetings. The kids screaming must be right under the tape player. Every thing else sounds like finger nails across a blackboard. I have to go outside so that it does not drive me nuts. A person really does have to be brainwashed to listen to it. I think that most of the jws that listen to this stuff are just trying to show how spiritual they are.

One time a group of us got together to record singing the Kingdom melodies.

Within the group were some really great individual voices so I suggested what if each of us sang a verse and then harmonized on the chorus all together.

This was quickly shot down because the Society frowns on such things.

    Can you say "crazy"?!

Yes, of course. I knew one couple that would play them in their home as background music. They did not even have a radio in their car so I imagine that their Kingdom Melodies was the only music they listened to.

I actually liked the songs. I don't sing well so I was hoping the tape that came out in the 90's with singers singing the songs would help me learn them and help me improve in my singing ability by practicing in the privacy of my own car. Boy, was that a bad idea. The "brothers and sisters" used to sing those songs sang them in the most dramatic and annoying way - how was I supposed to learn from that?! Like I was really going to attempt singing like that at the meetings!

I found it really annoying when the driver of a car group would play them as background out in field service - very distracting and made it hard to have any conversations with others.
