Do you Save?

  And I don't mean in any biblical way.

  I joined a savings group at work and we put money away every month & I can tell you now it's quite cool at the end of the year to get an envelope with a wad of money in it and it's all mine. So I'm going to be saving even more next year.

  Then I have a personal savings that I put into whenever I have a little extra over and I use that during the year to perhaps pay off a bill or if it doesn't have to go towards that, buy myself a little something.

  Plus do you save or have insurance policies for when you're older. I've got 3 that I've staggered out. One matures when I'm 45, then 55 then 65, so that I'll have money coming in at various stages of my life. (for these policies I put over R 2 000 towards them a month)

  Do you save much?

  4% of my pretax income, which gets matched by my employer, so that is 8% right there. Also, I set aside $1000 in savings every month, to be invested in one way or another. As to whether the investments produce a profit, well, that depends.

  after a couple of really bad years... I am saving again. We have not borrowed a dime in over 2 years either... and elimination of credit is as important as retention of cash.

  Yep! I was taught that lesson of saving as a child - learned it the hard way, as I do with most things!

  So now I save both short and long term, though I only started the long-term one since coming out of the dubs and realising I couldn't rely on a divinity for my financial future £€$£€$

  I used to save a lot in the 80's and 90's.

  I saved and paid my house off by the time I was 40.

  Then I put the max in my 401k and Ira.

  But since the Bushwacking I havent saved anything.

  And have lost much of the money I had in the stock market.

  But I did have half my money in cd's in the bank.

  I have always done the 401k thing at work, they match up to 8%. I never could the hang of personal short term savings until I started online banking. Now I just transfer 10% of what we make to savings.

  only an idiot would type over 50 lines of code without saving. unless of course he/she was cutting and pasting sh!t from other people's code. Then its all good cause they saved and its no probs.
