In Australia it's called "Chucking a Sickie" and since starting a new job 3 years ago I have used up almost all my sick days....just for some time off. I have NEVER really been sick. I only have 2 days sick leave left and I know that is foolish but I enjoyed myself fishing! My Doctor is very cool..."How many days would you like".....he he.

Yes. I call them mental health days. If I don't take them I'll need serious help with my head.

All the time. I have a certain amount of sick time to use, and I rarely if ever get sick. Use it or lose it is my philosophy.

Everyone needs to spend a day on themselves every now and then. Sometimes you need to just for your own sanity... and yes. I've chucked a sickie quite a few times.

I don't. When I am sick, I call in sick. Otherwise no. I plan my days off and ask for them ahead of time.

If you dont use them they go back to your employer so it's one of the perks of the job.

And what if I use them up and actually get sick? BTS

At my last real job (real in that I was salaried) we didn't have sick days, they were called personal days and we could take them for any reason (sick, mental health, doc appts, just don't feel like coming in, etc).
