    HAPPY TURKEY DAY EVERYONE..

The one thing I can be grateful about this year is that I am over a year out of the Borg.... that was a huge milestone.

I have only distant relatives close by and wont be able to travel this year to be with my brothers (who live 5 and 8 hours away) or mom (11 hours away). Just no time or money to travel this year.

I did receive an invitation to spend Turkey Day dinner with a JWDer and their family, but this year I think I am just going to coccoon the next couple of days... . (I am very very grateful that they thought of me to extend the invite. ) If I lived in a better neighborhood, I would extend an invite to come here. Maybe next year I will be in a better locale.

I am just going to spend a quiet evening of Thanksgiving by myself...,..me and my cat ... (I dont think I ever posted a picture of the cat did I?)...I am going to sleep in Thursday, go out for a couple of hours for lunch, then return home and enjoy a quiet time reading (I started reading a very addictive series of books at the recommendation of a JWDer....very thick books), catching up on recorded shows from the week...NO football.... maybe catch up on a bit of college homework...as the semester winds down.

I am staying out of the stores on Black Friday... its just too crazy. 8 Christmasas working retail burned me out long ago.

So what are YOU doing for Turkey Day? Whatever you are doing, have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

I'm spending turkey day with the Friends as I have done more times than I can count over the years?

We will eat Turkey, cranberries, sweet potatoes ham, pumpkin pie.

But we will not be celebrating Thanksgiving as we have so many times in my 56 years.

My wife has witness family and I wont even bring the question up why any more.

I just see it as I am getting a free dinner.

I would have spent 25- 30 dollars taking my wife out to dinner, if the friends were not having us over for Thanksgiving.

Black Friday, I hope I get to come home from work. I work midnights at the local jail and officers often call off to go shopping on Black Friday, then they end up holding those from the midnight shift over.

We are going to my husband's sister's house. Not my favorite thing to do, but there it is. Black Friday, I am working all day and since I work at home, I will stay completely out of the whole thing. Shopping on Black Friday is also not a favorite thing of mine to do. Both of my daughters in law plan to shop till they drop on Friday, though.

My sisters (all ex jw's) and I are having a big family dinner!! Complete with games, and drinking!

Black Friday will be my hell. I will be in the middle of it all. I have to be at work at 4 am, to have all the money ready from the vault, and then run the front end!! I'm sure by noon I will have cussed managers, and customers!!

    I'll be drunk by 5.

Other than my wife and kids, I have no family near me. My childhood friend of 35 years and his wife live just 20 miles from me in Princeton, they have no kids and family near them we also have another couple who have no family in the area, we kinda adopted each other, for the past five years or so, we have been alternating between each others homes for the holidays. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. This year we're travelling to Union, New Jersey, other than the turkey, evefrything else is pot luck. Interestingly will be the food. My wife is Haitian, I'm Puerto Rican, Chris is German, his wife Austrian, Hermina is also German her husband is Eucadorian.

    Ah, Turkey Day.

Last year, we were living 150 miles away from my son & his family, so going to their place for Thanksgiving was a major production. We would arrive sore and stiff and tired from 3 hours of driving (what with the tendonitis and arthritis and all).

But then we took a severance package and the end of an inheritance and moved about three miles away from them. So we're going to amble on over to their house, 3 miles away, for turkey prime rib and créme brulée.

We got plenty of turkey, though. They were on sale for $10 EACH a couple weeks ago, so we bought one and just finished it. Today we bought TWO smaller ones for the same price. They're in the freezer. They'll last us until it's time to buy a Christmas turkey for cheap. We should have our turkey craving satisfied by Groundhog Day.

But, yeah, my son's family are good people. A good time will be had by all.

Anyone ever gone to the Macy's Day Parade? I did once, we didn't plan it, we just happen to be in the neighborhood!

This was kind of our first major holiday since our fade. We don't know just what we should be doing. I did buy a turkey and we will have a nice family meal. Then my neighbor took pity on us, she knows we are a little lost, and invited us over. I think we will go for dessert and coffee. For black Friday, I'll stay home with the kids and just enjoy the day off.
