What will happen remains to be seen. We just don't know.
But we are free to guess. I think all the big WTS decisions are
run by the lawyers and accountants. I think money is the driving
force behind any real changes.
The talking that started awhile back was just to start bracing the
members for radically different changes that are basically nothing,
like removing the bookstudy from private homes or changing the
name of the presiding overseer.
I can imagine that they will do more radical things based on money.
They may start combining congregations and selling halls. They
may further reduce printing and offer tracts in the field and little else.
I doubt they are ready to put an electric fence around Patterson and
ask all the JW's to move there. I doubt they are ready to take the
money and run. Some of the other things, who knows? Will the
average JW be given specific instructions? Sure, they have been doing
that. Could it be along the lines of "Cease Travel" ? If it were, the JW's
would tire out from the instructions after a year or so. I would expect
them to be collapsing the structure quickly and moving to Belize.
They have tried the "emergency contact and emergency supplies"
procedure recently. Perhaps, they will just hint by expanding that.
"Elders are checking on your emergency supplies- please make a list
of what you have available, and how many brothers you can put up in
your house in a crisis." Then do nothing in follow-up.
I can't plan for everything. I just stay tuned and see what's coming as
soon as you guys know.
