For once I quite agree with you about some of the imtemperate rhetoric and behavior used by opposers and that it reinforces the worst stereotypical imagery of the hell-bent apostate fostered by the WTBTS.

    #######

    so true indeed

i agree with both of you guys- to many former jw fail to realize that they play right into the hands of the ORG- the avg jw has spent 10-40 yrs being trained on how to react on the day that a jw opens his or her mouth and make a comment that is not favorable about the org

the lights go off the curtain are pulled down - the BUNKER MENTALITY KICKS IN and all hell breaks loose.

jw are trained week in and week out just like a navy seal and they react literally by instinct almost-

as most of us know all the jw give the same CANNED AND PREPROGRAMMED ANSWERS

there was a thread here a few days ago about asking a jw to use a word other than one of their WT words and the poster made the point that the poor jw was at a lose-

it is as if they have a script and in fact they do in all seriousness

    how sad

Hi dis: Nice to hear from you again!
You said: I have a hard time understanding why people accept these changes from The Society as "New Light.
Once we believe that Jehovah is using the "Faithful Slave" as his mouthpiece, then you can believe anything they say.
That is all a part of mind control.
I remember how exited I used to get when someone would mention there was "New light" in the latest watchtower and I would hurry to read it. At the completing of the bible there was no New Light.
    Again....nice to hear from you

    Old,

I and many others here are willing to discuss points peacefully, but I have seen you use caustic words and inflammatory language.

When you develop a reputation for this, you don't get taken seriously, when you try to discuss a serious point.

IMHO, whether in business or religion it is much
easier to "sell" a bullshit story that the plain, simple,
    boring, dry truth.

If I try to raise money on a business
plan and tell my investors that there is large risk, much
work and maybe a return of 10% what do ya think my
success rate would be. Correct, 0%

Now promise the sky, no risk, little or no work and huge
return and people are falling all over themselves to sign up.

    Same applies to religion.

Study business/religious history and this pattern has been
repeated over, over and over again and will seem to always
be just around the next corner, except next time it will be
    for real!!! hahahahahahahahahah!!!

...I would hurry to read it. At the completing of the bible there was no New Light.

Next time I wanna hear the "troof, da hole troof an' nuthin' but the troof," I guess I'll ask you. Because, apparently, you understand everything.

Imagine that, since ewe have been out of the troof you came to a complete understanding of the bible. Since ewe left your understanding of the bible has NEVER changed. Wow!

Since leaving I think my personal understanding of the bible is one of the best out there and can be summarized in a quote (don't remember who said it though): "The bible is not a book to be taken lightly. It should be thrown as hard as possible."

    I don't need to fight
    To prove I'm right
I don't need to be forgiven.

I'm glad to see that Old Hippie has a moderate side. This is great!

Maybe his future posts won't be so inflammatory and honest disagreement and discussion will be possible. I hope so.

It is good that he acknowledges that JW's are where they are because they feel unsafe and insecure out on their own. The unknown is very scary, even if it is better than the known, like the saying, "The devil you know is better than the devil you don't know." Personally, it was very hard for me when I left 22+ years ago, particularly financially. But it was worth it all.
