I use Luke 2:10-14 to support that perfect angels celebrated the first Christmas in heaven. That is what the song The First Noel is based on, since that event was in fact the first Noel (Christmas) celebration. And since there is no mention anywhere in the Bible that those angels were punished for doing that, it means it is OK to celebrate Christmas.

Plus, it is perfectly fine to enjoy the fruitages of one's labors. That is in the Old Testament, which they love to pick from (I forgot where in Ecclesiastes that scripture is). Celebrating Christmas is one way to celebrate the fruitage of one's labor and enjoy it. So, I don't see where the Washtowel Slaveholdery makes a problem out of something that is not Scripturally or morally wrong.

I know the WT would use the bit from that Corinthians scripture to say you might "stumble" someone.(They use this for all sorts of silly control tactics)

But if you look at it,you musn't stumble Jews or Greeks (non-christians) or the Congregation of God,since JW's are not the congo. of God I don't mind upsetting them by celebrating,non-believers don't care what I do!

Have a great Christmas everybody !!

The Jewish equivalent to Christmas is, of course, Chanukah (the Festival of Lights) which this year begins on December 22 according to the Gregorian calendar (25th day of Kislev by the Hebrew calendar; see 1 Maccabees 4:56-59) and lasts for eight days.

Since Jesus was an observant Jew, there can be no doubt that he himself and his family have celebrated Chanukah (and thus 'Christmas') every year.

Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah to all of you!

    Huh?

Aside from happening to fall within the same calendar month, in what sense in Chanukah "equivalent" to Christmas?

For all you JWs out there...the scriptures supporting December 25th as the day to celebrate Christs birth are right next to the ones that say to celebrate wedding anniversaries, bridal and baby showers IS biblical and that giving thanks on the last Thursday in November by having a feast and family around you is pure EVIL. Lest you be confused about what is Biblical and what isnt.

    Romans ch 14:

1 Welcome the [man] having weaknesses in [his] faith, but not to make decisions on inward questionings. 2 One [man] has faith to eat everything, but the [man] who is weak eats vegetables. 3 Let the one eating not look down on the one not eating, and let the one not eating not judge the one eating, for God has welcomed that one. 4 Who are you to judge the house servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for Jehovah can make him stand.

5 One [man] judges one day as above another; another [man] judges one day as all others; let each [man] be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who observes the day observes it to Jehovah. Also, he who eats, eats to Jehovah, for he gives thanks to God; and he who does not eat does not eat to Jehovah, and yet gives thanks to God. 7 None of us, in fact, lives with regard to himself only, and no one dies with regard to himself only; 8 for both if we live, we live to Jehovah, and if we die, we die to Jehovah. Therefore both if we live and if we die, we belong to Jehovah. 9 For to this end Christ died and came to life again, that he might be Lord over both the dead and the living.
