Billy, that's why many times our parents refuse to look the TROOF in the eye for what it is--the guild would be too overwhelming.
It was bad for me--and I was raised in the crap--I had no choice. But for them to accept and realize they've spent their whole life and their children's lives selling magazines, well that's just oo much.
So they take the human element of forgiveness out, and tell you they can't 'forgive' you, it's God that needs to forgive you. They have had their emotions yanked out by the Faithful Indiscreet Slave.

BINGO! Funny you say that. I was just talking to a friend of mine last night and he said the same thing. I think that is why so many old-timers stay in, knowing full well they're involved in a false religion, it's too late to get out. I am amazed on a daily basis, how much I allowed these people to tell me how to think, how to feel, how/what/where to live, hang out with, etc. I am angry at the 19 years I wasted. I can't imagine being 50 (or older) and figuring that out! I guess I shouldn't be so pissed, huh?
PS: (((OUTLAW))) So sorry dear! No Neil-dumping here. I know a good thing when I got it!

Andi, I hate it when JW parents act like that, mine included.
This week I took a deposition involving a plaintiff who was very messed up emotionally. During a recess, her attorney explained that this poor woman had been "through the wringer" as it were. Then she leaned over and confidentially whispered, "She was a Jehovah's Witnesses. I don't know if you've heard of them." Oh, yeah, sister. Do tell! Turns out when she left the Borg, her JW husband, with the help of his parents, stole their little four year old girl and disappeared. The girl was not recovered. The woman has never recovered from losing her daughter and from being in the JW cult experience. This woman has had to spend time in a mental health facility more than once for what she went through.
Andi, you on the other hand, are doing fine. You've got so much on the ball. You are nothing like your father. We can be grateful for that, that we're not still trapped in a mental religious prison. It's painful to be rejected by JW relatives, but I'd rather be a "rejectee" than be a JW trapped in that cult mindset. I'd make that choice without hesitation, regardless of the cost. I know you feel the same way.
I'm so glad you made it out and that I've gotten a chance to know you personally. You're a fine person and this world is a better place with you in it. I'll adopt you anytime, including the doggies!
Umm, well, they are house trained, right???I love ya, Andi!
peace,
Jer

Hi Andi. I just wanted to say thanks for sharing your experiences. So many here can relate to what you are going through. You would have thought I had just shot the pope when I first told my mother that I didnt agree with the WT yarn of the seven trumpets of Revelation coinciding with those resolutions adopted in 1922 - 1928. My mother and I are at the same impasse as you and your father. I feel your pain. One thing, I bet he read that e-mail before deleting it. If my children were to take the time to voice concerns about something this important, I would at least read it no matter how many times we had discussed it. Keep on sending them, my dear!!
Love, Dino

(((Jerry))) I'm speechless. Thank you friend!
Dino - You think he read it? I hope so. It really hurt when I got that message. Although I hate the fact that you've gone through this experience, I appreciate it as well. It's nice to know people understand.

Hey BG! One other thought....the JWs can't even console themselves with the new system for forgiveness....At the end of the 1000 years Satan is released and there is a final test where a great number fail...so you would not feel you made it for A LONG TIME!

Andi dad loves you deeply I'm sure. I have adult offspring and I know I say the wrong thing all the time. Our roles are reversed as my son is still in the collective.
Hang in there, with a sweet daughter like you he must be tormented to not have contact with you. I think back a couple of years ago and how I looked at things. My non witness son just drove me nuts. Why oh why wouldn't he accept the truth??? Now he gets a kick out of rubbing my face in it of course. All I can do is smile. Impossible to argue the point.
Adoption? Can you ride a horse? If you can the doors always open. No unhappy people on a horse you know.

Hi Andi
Your realization and the thread about Forgiveness has just floored me because I guess it was my "food at the proper time." Now all I can do is go home for lunch. Is there some good spirit working in you or what? -

There is something special working in andi. When I first came here, recently, I wrote a post that was sort of downhearted. Andi e-mailed me and picked me right up. This from a young lady that has her fair share of troubles. Nice to see there are some nice people here. I was ready to give this place up until she wrote me.
