We also got Top Value stamps. They had a local "store" where you could redeem them. Man, going there with all of your books of stamps for "free" stuff was the closest we ever got to understanding the joy of Christmas.
I got a Humpty Dumpty plaque there for my bedroom wall, if memory serves me correctly.
Seems like Mom got an iron and a handmixer, too.

We had "Blue Chip Stamps" I think we had Green Stamps too, but it's Blue Chip that I remember. There were stores you went to to redeem. I got my first decent camera that way. Wow, there's some memory lane for ya.
Donate??!!! Hell no, we were dirt poor. That was a highlight of my youth. It was..................hope.

Weren't you S&H Green Stamps?
Yes! S&H (Sperry & Hutchinson), the people who invented rewards currency with our famous S&H Green Stamps, have brought them into this century as S&H greenpoints, an online rewards currency that, just like our Green Stamps, never expire!

haha, greenstamps brings back a memory that I don't know I want to revisit.
An Elder's wife in our Hall had once gone to her GYN and she was asked to go pee before the exam. She did. Lo and behold there was no more paper in the stall so she used tissue from her purse. When she went in for her exam everything seemed normal until the Dr's head peeked up above and he asked her if she was now giving out green stamps. She was confused and he then showed her the green stamps that he had retrieved from her 'bottom.'
Apparently they were stuck to her tissues. LOL
