Was Daniel seperate from the world?

Daniel accepted appointment to a high position in the Babylonian political structure and even requested administrative positions for three of his friends. Yet Daniel is held up as an example to us for being willing to face death rather than be disloyal to God. How would Daniel have been treated today by the WT Society for such actions?

Also, the names given them by the Babylonians contained within them the names of Babylonian gods. They voiced no objection to this. How would a JW feel about having their name changed in such a way today?

They would all be on this website complaining about being disfellowshiped from the damn Watchtower society.

Daniel would have been disfellowshipped because the Witnesses misinterpret what "not being part of the world" means.

A whole bunch of names are from pagan gods even today. Even in the New Testament there were people with names like Marcus, which comes from the Roman God of war. My own middle name comes from a book that the JWs trash as non-canonical and apocryphal.

    Here's the WTS "explanation"

*** w90 11/1 pp. 20-21 par. 16 The Role of the Superior Authorities ***The fact that the superior authorities are God’s minister explains why Daniel, the three Hebrews, Nehemiah, and Mordecai were able to accept responsible positions in the Babylonian and Persian governments. They could thus appeal to the authority of the State for the good of God’s people. (Nehemiah 1:11; Esther 10:3; Daniel 2:48, 49; 6:1, 2) Today some Christians also work in government service. But since they are separate from the world, they do not join political parties, seek political office, or accept policy-making positions in political organizations.
