Hi Simon,
I have tried to register with my previous name : stuckinarut2, but this just did not work on the new site!
I have tried emailing you several times, but have not heard back from you.
So I have had to re-register under a new name : stuckinarut3
However, I would prefer to keep using my previous name.
Can you please respond and assist?

Me thinks there have been a few minor teething troubles with the new site, but it should sort itself out.
First of all, some apologies - I had planned to spend the last couple of days getting everyone signed in to the new site and sorting account issues out but I wasn't getting over the flu as I thought, I got worse. I've probably had 4 hours sleep in the last few days. Anything that requires too much thinking isn't going to happen right now. I do know what the issue is though and what I need to do to fix things so please bear with me while I recover and implement the fix..
Angharad had offered to run to the drug store for some flu remedies but I told her not to bother because I'd started to feel better. Bam, big mistake - a combination of cold weather (-25 to -30) and not using the car much over the xmas break and uh oh, it wouldn't start. I knew the battery was on the way out and was planning on getting it replaced this month. Now I really really wanted something to take.
So while feeling unbelievably poorly and bitterly cold, I had to jump start the car and go buy a new battery and some tools and finally some medicine while we were out. What an exhausting morning - I was walking round Costco with my big coat, toque and scarf on (their batteries are so cheap !). .
One good thing - after successfully going through 7 winters I finally discovered that it had a block-heater fitted all this time (doh!) so at least we should be better in future.
So, my apologies again for lack of progress and for failing to reply to emails a promised. It's the worst flu I've had for many years and came at the worst time imaginable - the vaccine is starting to look like a pretty good option for next year."

The majority of the issues for people who can't sign in are to do with them creating more than one account at some point. One of the accounts is marked as 'active' but it's not the one they are trying to sign in as. Creating yet another account to tell me about it / ask for help does nothing to reach a solution and I made it clear several times that I was going to work on the problem but that I would not be merging accounts if anyone does this and my priority are the people who have patiently waited.
I'm working on a solution but don't want to rush it as I need to test things out thoroughly because it is todo with user account security.
But I had no other way to contact you other than starting another account...?

Sorry mate, but there was no other way.
I followed all the directions provided correctly, but things didnt work....
Anyway, I'm keen to move forward and get back to being my "previous self" known as stuckinarut2.
If you can make that happen, it would be appreciated.

OMG, I finally am on!!! Sorry Simon for all the emails bugging you on how to get back on. I wasn't able to get on using my username at first, My problem was that my username "Shanagirl" which I've been using for several years was not working because I no longer use the email address that I opened my account with the Shanagirl username. Instead, I was using an email address I've had for years that I used to have an older username that's no longer in use. Any way, hopefully this will work and by the way I changed my avatar too.
