Most of them have no idea why they look down on anything. They look down on things because the watchtower tells them to.

Good comments, all.
My take is that JWs are not a religion of peace, but a religion of mass destruction, not by themselves (they lament that laws of the land won't let them do it), but by their God.
Since mass murder by their BibleGod(tm) is the main element necessary for them to get their goals achieved, one should hardly be surprised at their outrage over people who advocate peaceful symbols and peaceful approaches to solving mankind's problems.
To be a true JW, one must be in whole-hearted support of violent and nauseating worldwide genocide. To not support that idea, is to be "apostate" in that crazy world known as dubland.
When a dub offers your the WTS message at the door, and you reject it, they politely say, "Have a nice day", while what they are REALLY THINKING is Jehovah will soon smash your guts all over the sidewalk, and your kids and wife and your little dog Toto, too!
Hypocrites and liars!

inkling
Becuase is it clearly linked to that damn dirty hippie movement, with their "drugs" and "free love" and "happiness"...

I remember something about the upside down cross in relation to the peace sign per jws. I grew up with it and it meant just that to me, the promotion of peace on this earth.
Then again, inkling is right, it involved peace, love and rock and roll. Good times for me. I hate how dubs see bad things in everything. I wonder if they will ever admit that the watchtower can be considered pagan?
