Will Watchtower Fold Like The Taliban?

Great points. I believe it will happen. Christian Science was a booming religion a century ago, and now amounts to little more than a newspaper. Their belief system was just too bizarre to sustain a large following. Similarly, in established regions such as the US and UK, Jehovah's Witnesses are barely treading water in terms of numbers. This is all the more remarkable considering the hundreds of millions of hours they spend collectively each year trying to prostelytize. As Lincoln said, some people can be fooled all the time. I could build a following of people who believe "Elvis is alive" if you gave me time to pound on enough doors. But eventually people do see through these preposterous belief systems. I'm with you. I think the WTS is in for a collapse.

I agree, joelbear, they are running away from fights.
That's what is weakening them - they can't stand and defend
their viewpoints - especially in the face of the obvious,
that their way of life is increasingly sterile.

Look what happened to the Christ Cult. It was a close brotherhood of believers who shared their belongings in an almost communal group. They intermarried, avoided getting involved in the world both politically and economically. They were serious about their witnessing. By the beginning of the 2nd century it was pretty clear that Jesus was not going to return "soon". Did they stop growing? There are over 1 billion members now with a denomination to fill every conceivable niche of belief.

I was to that statements like this were made after the 1925, and 1935
and they never came to be.......does that make apostates false prophets too?

I have to agree with you on point #1- those statements were made after 1925 and as we can see wt is still here and I think they will not be going anywhere anytime soon- instead they will continue to become more mainstream the avg jw will be much like you-

still a supporter of the wt. but have very little regard for following directions- the internet is the best example i can think of

years ago when the wt published an article like they did in 1998 on THE NET - very few jw would have been so bold as to disregard the clear instructions on not putting up sites that deal with jw isssue

most jw would have understood which way the Society was "Leaning" when they stated in effect:

"there is no need for any site other than other than the one we put up on the WWW--www.wt.org- can't you read between the lines!!!!!"

you are the type of jw i personally see more and more of each day- - the ones who like you live 2 lives- that is what I see

the best elders are leaving and the only ones left are the bottom of the barrel- the type of men who will say: "I'm an Elder Sister!!"

so yes jw will be around for a long time , but in your avg congo meeting attendance will continue to suffer- meetings so boring, most can recite the CA and DC parts by rote since they have heard them so many times- the avg publication is no more than CUT AND PASTE AKA RECYLED INFO.

just look at how they are trying to prop up the hours 15min of selling time

they have reduced the worship of god to quarter hour time frames

i can see the A$$ beating coming from the CO and Elders

you mean to tell me that you could not sell books for just 15 min this month.

as for "Apostates being False prophets"

i need to see where anyone who is a former JW has claimed to be a prophet to start with-

all we are doing is giving our personal opinions kinda like what the Boys in Writing should do instead of claiming to speak for god

(((Hmmm ... with so many women proving their managerical abilities
in the workplace, what will the old farts do to "keep the
    sisters down" in the organization?)))

Last night that slave guy (is he inside Bethel, for some reason I think he is) said something about changes regarding women commenting at meetings. He didn't go into details, just made the comparison that women at Bethel don't/can't comment at meetings. I don't know if he was saying that the women at Bethel will be able to comment soon, or if women in the congs won't. For some reason I took it that they will become more restrictive, but that could be shaded by my prejudice.

are we having this tired conversation again??

"if a dub doesnt fit into my profile of a brainwashed dub...he is living a double life"

i would be interested in you telling me how "you see" what "you see"
if you have never met me or any of my two "double lives"

The mere fact, NYT, that you are on a forum KNOWN to be frequented by Disfellowshipped and disassociated, as well as APOSTATES like myself, prove that you have a double life.

You claim that you are 'not afraid to let any in your congregation know you visit this forum.' A rather empty claim since it cannot be verified!

My hope is that when your steroid-shrunken nuts finally settle down and get a naive little JW girl for a wife, you will tell her of your doubts about the WT BEFORE she says 'I do.'

Because we all know, NO spiritually mature sister is interested in dating a JW with independent thinking.

I think the double life is more pronounced in the org than people think and that will have a big affect on numbers in the future. The biggest downfall for this religion is its young people,it cant keep them no mader what they do.It is a joke, most all the young people lead double lives. As some one who was pluged into the young people seen in the early 90s I can tell you its not good for the watchtower.I had alot of friends from alot of congs and geuss what, most of them left, very few have stayed in the org.Without young fresh blood the org is in for some problems.
