I'm back : hic :
Sir, welcome to the rest of your life!
I think the rest of my life just got more expensive, lol.
Trappist Ales are delightful. Chimay Red is probably my very favorite. I have to drive all the way to Delta, Louisiana to get it. The Sovreign State of Mississippi does not sell any beer over 6% alcohol. It's worth the drive!
Well, if you're in Vicksburg, you can't complain ;). If you're in Jackson, now that is a b ee rr u n beer run! I tried the Blue tonight, and noticed a brand called Three Philosophers that also seems to be a Trappist ale to try next time. I've heard good things about it.
It's hard to beat Belgian beer in general. Another great one is Duvel Golden Ale. Not at all similar to the Trappists, but very delicious.
I'll have to find a place that sells that. I'm buying the Trappist ales at the local Sprouts grocery store, but there is a liquer store in the area that probably stocks some of these more unusual beers.
Purps:
ohhhhh, good beer isn't it? once you have had it hard to drink any other kind. It's about eleven bucks a bottle here I think it's rated number 2 in the world. Although I think the Blue (Grand Reserve) is better than the red. purps
I tried the Blue tonight. It was great, but I wish I'd had some of the Red to taste alongside it because to be honest, I couldn't say one was better (or even different) than the other, tasting them on two different nights. I have heard that the Blue can be re-corked for a longer time, even aged w/o any harm.
