Are there times when it's better to say nothing?

As for me I just let them blather on. At one time I thought if you pointed out the errors they would see them and change. Now I realize that each of us is on our own path it is impossible to force someone to be on the same path as I am on. I don't believe that God is going to kill them if they don't think like I do so I don't have that pressure on me. It took me a long time to wake up and there was a time when it didn't matter what facts were presented to me about the Watchtower I would have bocked them out.

Then again I there are times when I feel like blurting out " Are you f'ing stupid or what?"

This is so hard. In my case, I've learned to just keep my mouth shut about the WTS around Dub relatives because they consider me apostate and won't listen to me. Anything I say is blown off and discredited with the "A" word. So I just try to live the best Christian life that I can and let them judge me by my actions. However, I don't try to hide that I'm a Christian now, which bothers them. I was at a family gathering, Dubs and non-Dubs alike, and my aunt and I began talking about my priest because she used to attend my parish. My sister just huffed, got up, and left the table. So I don't cower about how I live my life but I don't get in their face about how they live their lives.

If they won't listen to you, there's no point talking, no matter how much you want to rescue them.

I was given the lowdown on THE TRUTH for some time by disaffected JWs. It wasn't till I read the story of Nils and Sherry Jansma, friends from Bethel, that I saw the light. It was presented in The Free Minds Journal and sent to me by one of those friends. Then I read Thirty Years a Watch Tower Slave and Ray Franz's books (again, from the same friend).

    Then it clicked!

    Thanks for your thoughts.

Sad but true. I "rescued" my entire family by preaching the paradise pre-1975. This time it may not be so easy or even possible.

    Thank you.

Hey there Coco and Merry Christmas!

I learned many years ago it was no use to argue or use common sense with hard wired JWs. Its a lesson in futility. I tend to go mmm hmmm, or thats interesting and change the subject. Saying nothing has saved my hind end and sanity many a time.

    Happy Holidays!

If I decide there are times when it's better to say nothing, I might not contribute to this thread.

You beat me to it! Ditto.

Thanks for saying so much with so little.

Practical wisdom says don't discuss religion and politics. Of course, as JWs, did we take that advice?

I'm all for saving my sanity though I could stand to lose some of where I sit!

Thanks for the sage advice. And Happy Holidays to you and hubby also.

If I decide there are times when it's better to say nothing ...

We'll be the first to know ... correct?!?!?

Thanks for, er, contributing. Yes, for contributing to this thread ...
