Anyone go to the movies on Christmas day? I usually do, and will this year as well. I think I will see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, but I think Valkyrie will be very good. What about you? The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Based on a story by F Scott Fitzgerald, Benjamin Button, (played by Brad Pitt) is born with a rare disorder. He is born as an older man, and through out his life he ages backwards. It documents his less then ordinary life, and how he deals with it. Cate Blanchette stars in the film as Benjamin's love interest. It sounds like a unique story and already has been nominated for a golden globe award.

    Marley and Me

This is a perfect movie for children. It is about a dog Named Marley who is big, mischievous and loveable. Who through his antics, brings his family closer together on Christmas. Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston star in this delightful movie.

    Bedtime Stories

Another perfect children's film, this movie stars Adam Sandler. It is about a handyman with an otherwise boring life. However, he loves to tell his nieces and nephews bedtime stories. The fun begins when the stories start coming true. Keri Russell also stars in this film playing Adam's love interest.

This last film is actually due out December 26 2008. But I had to add it to the list as a "must see" movie. Out of all these movies, I am motivated to see this one first. I would like to hear more about these real life heroes who tried to stop the Holocaust.

    Valkyrie

This film is based on a true story. It is about German officers in the middle of World war two and the Holocaust constructing a plan on how to kill Adolf Hitler, to cause an immediate stop to the war. The plan was named "Valkyrie". It was a term for the start of, trying to over throw the Nazi government. Tom Cruise, Kenneth Branagh and Bill nighy star in this film.

Valkyrie has been getting trashed big time, particularly Cruise's performance. It's already making some bottom 10 lists of 2008.

I am curious about Benjamin Button though.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

I really want to see this movie. It looks interesting and Brad Pitt is one of my favorite actors.

    Valkyrie

    Tom Cruise is a joke

Ohh thanks Big Tex, my friend wants to see Valkyrie, I am just not a Cruise fan.

I will push harder to get my way!!!!

It's too bad because the story is a very interesting, and important one. But for the leg of an oak table, the war would have ended in July 1944 instead of May 1945.

I've never been a big Cruise fan, the closest movie of his that I like is "Interview with a Vampire" and that was despite him, not because of him. Oh and "Rain Man" was good, but again despite him not because of him.

Valkyrie and Benjamin Button. We won't go on Christmas day - Benjamin Button looks intriguing and although Valkyrie is getting bad reviews, I will likely see it just because I like those type of historical films. Of course, that depends as well on whether or not I decide to connect to HBO in order to watch Big Love this season as that might eat up my extra funds....sammieswife.

    DOUBT~with Meryl Streep/Philip Seymour Hoffman

It's 1964, St. Nicholas in the Bronx. A vibrant, charismatic priest, Father Flynn, is trying to upend the school's strict customs, which have long been fiercely guarded by Sister Aloysius Beauvier, the iron-gloved Principal who believes in the power of fear and discipline. The winds of political change are sweeping through the country, and, indeed, the school has just accepted its first black student, Donald Miller. But, when Sister James, a hopeful innocent, shares with Sister Aloysius her suspicion that Father Flynn is paying too much personal attention to Donald, Sister Aloysius is galvanized to begin a crusade to both unearth the truth and expunge Flynn from the school. Now, without a shred of proof or evidence except her moral certainty, Sister Aloysius locks into a battle of wills with Father Flynn, a battle that threatens to tear apart the Church and school with devastating consequences.
