Heh, that is the second time that was quoted at me. Maybe, it means something;)
Traditionally, the japs and chinese have been enemies. The japs go right wing fascist, the chinese left wing communist. The enmity has cooled down, thanks to capitalism, it seems.

With all eyes on Obama, Port of Los Angeles security under control of Chinese President’s son!
By Judi McLeod Wednesday, November 19, 2008
With all eyes on the Big O’s Office of the President-elect, very few know that the Port of Los Angeles--the nation’s largest--is now effectively under the control of the Peoples Republic of China.

Japan has been increasing it's military spending do to recent China's military spending thanks to it's capitalist prosperity. Though the Japanese government have been using the guise of North Korea is the reason for the build up. It does beg the question why do you need such a large self defence force to defend against a few missiles from a lagging third world country. Seeing as Japan has no intentions of reoccupying Korea if they do launch missles at Japan.

I read the linked article, and all I've got to say is that, at some point, we're going to learn our lesson about going with the 'lowest bidder.'
The bid that included the Nuctech scanner, which was cheaper than rival bids submitted by Smiths Detection, a British company with offices in New Jersey, and Rapiscan Systems, of Torrance, CA, was formally submitted to the port by a small U.S.-based business headquartered in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, known as DULY Research Inc.” (gsnmagazine.com, Oct. 16, 2008). “We were cognizant of the fact that we were the first port to acquire this Chinese system,” said George Cummings, the port’s director of homeland security. “They were the low bidder and they complied with all the technical requirements.”
Turning over Homeland Security to companies from countries who have historically been at odds with democracy and human rights....brilliant move, Federal Government.
