Saving Jw's......

I was running a scenario in my head that might work in some cases to help a Jw or Jw family to leave the organization. It is pretty elaborate, and you might have to tell a white lie or two to make it work.

You formulate a letter similar to this:

Dear Pastor Blake [I would use this to throw them off, by them assuming that I have misunderstood the structure of the faith]

Around two years ago now [time flies], you and a nice young fellow named Bob, came by my house. In our discussion you mentioned the matter of world government. My immediate response was to be off-put by such a suggestion, as I am opposed to the idea of a single government. I brought up the United Nations, and you assured me that your church did not support that sort of ideology. After a bit of discussion on the subject, you sold me a book called Revelation - It's Grand Climax at Hand!

I must admit - that book lay on my bookshelf unread for most of that time since. I really am not too interested in religion as an answer to mankind's ills to be honest. A few weeks ago I decided to look it over. Though I found the interpretations of many of the scriptures to be self-serving toward your particular small sect, I remembered that you spoke about how the book discussed the United Nations, and how God would ruin them in time. In leafing through the book I found chapter 28, dealing with the wild-beasts of the Apocalypse. While I found the explanations to be somewhat fantasy-filled and utterly unprovable in the real world, one thing became evident. Your religion believes the UN to be evil, the spawn of the Devil, and that anyone taking on it's number [666] would deserve to be thrown into hellfire.

As you may recall, my training and background involve extensive investigation techniques to confirm/deny information supplied me in my work. My simple investigation in this matter took me to your Watchtower official website. I found there, that your religion continually showed strong animosity toward this organization, in more than one place [sorry did not note the exact words], your religion condemned the UN as 'a counterfeit Kingdom of God'. Some of the drawings show this UN beast befriending a woman, whom you claim to be all the religions on earth. Your leadership has excused themselves as part of this pictured woman, of course.

    My second stop was to Google 'Watchtower, UN'. I wanted to see if further information existed. The first few results were websites that contained some information that was interesting, claiming that your religion had in fact affiliated itself with the UN in 1992. I went straight to the source. I contacted the UN, thru it's website. They directed me to a PDF file on the site that was immediately appalling to me. I don't know if you have access to computers, but if so, here is the address of the official news release from the UN regarding the matter;

I was, and am, immediately incensed with you and you religion. Needless to state, I did a much deeper investigation beyond this point. I was sickened, that once again, I have found religion to be total hypocrisy. I have found it's adherants to be willing participants in the spreading of such lies about their religions. I hoped that in your case - and indeed in the case of your entire religion - that I would not find such to be the case. I thought you were different, but see that you are like all the rest. You tell what will tickle my ears, and hide what will show your religion to be in reality. You, like all the others, match what Jesus stated about whitewashed graves. I feel so angry to have made this discovery. And yet happy that I had the educated thinking that made me question before I accepted. I am saddened that I cannot do much to prevent others, particularly the less educated ones in our area to realize that you are so seriously misrepresenting your faith.

I sincerely am little affected by this matter other than throwing out a book, and refusing in the future to speak with your people. I do not include my real return address, for I do not wish to have you call at my home to further discuss this subject. If you have records of my address, please destroy them, and do not call on my any further.

A bit of advise for you - a legitimate one: Investigate what you are selling, what you represent. It causes others to disrespect you personally for bringing such lies and duplicity to their homes when they discover such things. Aside from that, I would think that you might want to consider your own association with such religion that would lie and hide facts from the people they attempt to convert.

    Respectfully yours,

    Clyde Hovarter

This might cause the person to look into the matter himself, who knows? I would have. I would address the envelope Pastor So and So, and possibly use a first name that was similar to his, but not the same. The combination of curiosity and the misspelling might make him wonder even more and put him off the track that it might come from someone who really knows him well.

Just a thought on an otherwise boring New Years day at home.

I wanted to make it personal. Make the guy want to prove me wrong even if only in his own mind. Don't know if the letter does that exactly like I intended yet - it's pretty rough right now.

Jeff, there excuse for "sleeping with the wild beast" is "We only did this because we wanted to use their library".

The fact is, (from what I've heard on here) is that they DID NOT need to join as an NGO to use the library, prior to 9/11.

You better cover that angle before you send your letter.

I think it is an excellent letter, and a good idea to get people to think. I have a 'naive' MS friend who always "thanks Jehovah for the Watchtower" in his public prayers! I would love to send it to him!

I do agree with one post above that we might want to include the angle about the "library card" ruse, and how it's BS! It would be cool if there were something about this on the UN website that debunks that particular WT piece of poo excuse.

I don't know if they would fall for it - it smells of apostasy and therefore into file 13.

Prob right about that in most cases - but if it is well drawn up, they might. Couldn't use it more than once in any area for sure, and you would want to pick a Jw whom you believe might actually have some doubts already welled up. And one with good familiarity with the www. I have a few in mind, bust haven't done it yet.
