JW's are programmed to say this. If more people would bring these items up, then JW will be even less effective. It will also bring this subject up in a most unpleasant way for the borg, as they don't have control over what non JW's bring out.

I've heard that saying a number of times but the witnesses don't really mean it. When they say "prove the truth to yourself" they want you to do it through their literature and absolutely no use of independent materials. Its crazy.

I just had something similar happen to me when talking with a JW friend about a matter. They recommended that I research the issue, which I had done already. When I shared with them what I found, they told me "No, you should research what the slave says and base your decision on that." I told them I already know what the "slave" says regarding the issue but thought it was very interesting what I found outside of the "slave". Their response "Why would you need to look outside of the materials provided to us by the slave?"

How crazy is that?!

Honestly, that put the nail in the coffin for me.

...this study had compiled a boatload of questions about Russell, the WT history, and incongruencies etc. etc. and the sister told her that she refuses to answer the questions and that they are apostate teachings. She told the study that "it isn't up to me to prove the Truth to you, YOU need to prove the Truth to yourself".

I would hope that a normal thinking person who was given this type answer would immediately come to the conclusion that the JW religion is a load of BS and kindly, but quickly, end their study.

The age of the Internet is going to help keep JW numbers from increasing through the field ministry. It's too easy to log on, google "Jehovah's Witnesses" and see way too much controversial information. To most people looking for "truth" in their religion, they're going to be put off by all the issues that surround this religion.

This is coming from someone who is either lazy or scared of finding out the truth.

My coming out began with a depression caused by the following problem: I spent my whole life in a faith that I really didn't understand.

I figured that the best way out of this depression was to prove to myself what I believed was true. I attempted to be very objective in this analysis. Using the standard of a "reasonable person" I could not put the pieces together.

When you start proving the truth to yourself, the journey doesnt end with the witnesses.

Keeping going back to the inquisition, the Crusades.

Then keep going back and try to find Jesus.

Try to find an eye witness of Jesus in the bible.

Then go back and find out who God is.

WHICH "TRUTH " FOR GOD'S SAKE?

They have been changing their Truth so often recently that I can only assume the "truth" is that they believe whatever Crooklyn is vomiting off its presses at the time.

The Truth is they are just following a Book Publisher.

Wow. This just shows how brain-dead JW's are.

If you are offering a life-saving message to people, but you can't prove it and test it, then what's the point?

It's times like these that remind me how weak a faith JW's have. I no longer feel sorry for them.

This is what JWs are now running up against. People with access to a huge amount of information on the Watchtower.

They are so untrained on how to deal with this, the majority of JWs never having come across some of the information themselves or even heard of most of it.

So they just tell people its all lies by "apostates"

I wish access to such information had been available in 1971. Then I wouldn't have wasted the next 30 years of my life.

Actually its their own teachings that expose their false religious beliefs,

you only need the bible and JW literature to reveal their self devised corruption,

and its actualy the best way.
