Why do we still refer to it as the "truth"? (page 2)

It bothers me too.

In the bible Jesus says "I am the way and the truth and the life". I believe that Jws who use this term, show disrespect for that statement.

I usually refer to it as the "cancer". However, it is not entirely impossible for me to accidentally call it "the truth". It is the same principle that some witlesses while still in accidentally utter a swear word at times.

Because to a witness truth is whatever the Watchtower says its. All part of the mind control the witnesses deny they suffer from.

I will always say "truth" from time to time. I am still too conditioned to say that. Deal with it.

I hate that I do that. But when I am talking to someone still in it's hard for me to say JW's, the organization, the society, watchtower anything but "in the truth is disrespectful to them. A friend of mine was talking about a cousin of his that left JW (df'ed) many years ago. He says "he knows it's the truth, he still calls it the truth". I felt like saying it's just a figure of speech, if he really thought it was the truth he would be in it, doing it.

Its conditioning. It does go away after a while. I don't use it anymore, not even when talking with JWs...which has caused a few of them to look at me a little funny.

I don't do that any more...but I do notice how easy it is to slip back into the J W mode of speaking, even thinking, when in the company of dubs, especially if we reminice about the old days.

I was buttonholed by an old "sister" (there I go) at the K Hall when I went with my wife. This old lady is a bit eccentric and very slow speaking and can be vexing to deal with, although nice really. Anyway she was saying how hard it is to carry on and how people lack love these days...I found myself talking encouragingly , like I would have done in the old days..I did not have the heart to tell her the truth..
