With a degree in criminal justice, you can get a job running a jail, But you might have to start out on the floor.

You can manage security where ever they have security. Hospitals.

You can be a policeman deputy sheriff, if you stay fit. I've seen and heard of deputys in their 70's.

You could get into internet security.

And most large companies have a security department that someone has to run.

Also with a degree you would have a foot in the door in completely unrelated fields.

Jeff.....what a fascinating topic and an even MORE fascinating branch to be getting into! When my niece left the WTS, she went into this area, and she loved every aspect of it and had a very rewarding job when she graduated college.

I am tickled for you and wish you the very best!

    hugs,

    Annie

we are both to be engaged in earnstwhile efforts to finish the process of shedding our Jw skins, by completing something that is late by 30 years.

How wonderful for you both. Congratulations. I am in my late fifties and in college. Who knows if I will ever finish.....but I am enjoying using my brain. I have really enjoyed geology, biology, Texas History, U.S. history, World Civilization (from beginning history to medieval times), Spanish, and am now going to enroll in a French class. Woo Hoo!!!!!

Let us know what your first classes are!!!

Congratulations!! And best wishes for your success.

One of my biggest regrets as a JW was not getting a good education. At one point I had given up hope that it could happen for me. But finally, after all these years, I graduated from college last month.

Now I'm ready to start a new career. If only there were jobs....

WOOHOOOOOOO!!! I give a gigantic thumbs-up to anybody starting a degree! Mines about a third done now, and now I know that I want to try secondary teaching. It will be a few more years yet, but I think that's the job I'll retire with. I think I'll be exhausted but very proud to teach.

I'm so happy for you, Jeff.

I am in my fourth semester pursuing a BA in Psychology and my GPA is 3.67. My goal is to be a clinical woman's counselor for victims of rape and abuse. In my life I started college at least 4 times, but never finished. Kids, work, (two jobs at a time), and other reasons always popped up to foil my plans. Not this time.

It's never ever too late until you're six feet under or sitting in an urn on the mantel. I just saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (you must see this movie) and he said, "I figured out one thing. If you're growing older or getting younger it really doesn't make any difference. Whichever way you're going you have to make the most of what this is."

I have no freaking idea what I will do with a degree at this stage of my life to be honest.

There are only two stages of life: alive and dead. You sir, are living.

You actions acknowledge this. Congratulations. I recently met a man that went to law school in his 50s after selling his business, and then spent the next 6 years after his graduation bringing a landmark Constitutional case before the Supreme Court--which he won. Extraordinary.
