More evidence that they employ very capable psychological and linguistic experts to very carefully craft doublethink type language that can mean something while not meaning something.

And the reality is when they say "the truth" they don't just mean "truth" they mean the statements and beliefs of the watchtower bible and tract society... I take that back they mean SOME of the RECENT statements and beliefs MAYBE unless they don't want them too...

Though at first read the statement in the WT sounds like it is implying that WTS teachings are part of the Bible, I think the context of this article is more in line with the compilation of the various early writers to form the Bible. As Blondie points out, there are other mroe damning statements to claim inspiration and inerrancy for the WTS teachings. Using the !2/15 WT statement could lead to a "gotcha moment" for a skilled JW apologist. My two cents...

    compare and contrast with:

Approved association with Jehovah's Witnesses requires accepting the entire range of the true teachings of the Bible, including those Scriptural beliefs that are unique to Jehovah's Witnesses. (April 1 1986 WT p. 31)

I would argue that the word 'entire' is loaded for the true believer JW and implies the full 9 yards of JW doctrine including all their nonsense not found anywhere near a Bible.

Never mind the fringe lunancy control about what kind of polo-top is acceptable during a recreation period at Bethel (with example photos in case you didn't get the point or can't read) , I'm talking foundational doctrine about the 7 times of Daniel added to the Gentile times of Jesus multiplied by a solar day divided by a lunar year to equal 1914, but only if you start from the wrong date in the first place. And non-belief is not optional - this kind of stuff means your family will shun you for the rest of both your lives.

I ask again - why the confusing complicated use of 'that has become' - what was the writer aiming to accomplish with this strange tense, and seemingly non-essential clarification of what "the truth" should mean to a Christian?

Just as a reminder, the term 'the truth" is a title of Jesus Christ:

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way , the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. - John 14:6

The WT sees itself as a mediator between us sinners and God's justice. They specifically deny Jesus as Mediator to the Great Crowd. So, if they hijacked a title of Jesus for themselves, is it really a big deal if they highjacked "the Bible" with their own writings?

i might be stoned for this but i think sir82's right. if it was referring to the watchtowers n books, wouldn't it add "and still being added into..." after "become"? it could be a code kinda thing, but i see this as a furtune cookie thing like some things in the bible are. like the eating of jesus' flesch that catholics take literally. i think "xtian teachings" in this sense means the stuff by paul n that.

i AM NOT defending the dubs, just think that there should be a careful consideration of what's written there. i think that quote is more of the WTBTS's ultimate wet dream, besides wiewing themselves as gods.

"However, 'Christian teachings' were part of the Bible from the moment the 66 books were chosen to be the Bible."

PP~you do know that there are 73 books in the Bible, right?
