What have they done for us lately? Perfected field-expedient methods for producing triacetone triperoxide?

    some thoughts:

    1. "pre-Islamic" Persians were Zoroastrians (like Freddy Mercury of QUEEN). Zoroastrians don't recruit new members.

    2. we are told that Muslim mathematicians invented zero. "Well," I say, "thanks for nothing."

    3. I wonder if Fjordman ever considered the alternate nickname, "Fjord Fairlane."

Hhhmmm. I'm not understanding your point Nathan. I believe this thread is about historical evidence, not present-day evidence.

Europeans experienced the Dark Ages, which was fostered by Christian terrorists. However, eventually, they moved beyond that. In like manner, Muslims are experiencing an increase of their fundamentalism; hopefully moderates will be able to re-establish dominance. However, none of this alters their past accomplishments.

As for what they have done lately? Who knows. Most people are now known for their accomplishments, not their religion. I do know that in American, Muslims are more educated than the vast majority of religions, and they make on average approximately $70,000 yearly. It's highly unlikely that such an educated group of people do not have some substantial work accomplishments.

BTW, the first two Muslims in your state were two Boeing engineers.

If it wasn't for religion, Jesus would have been famous for building the tallest skyscraper in the Middle East. We would have had the Internet by 70 AD, disease would have been cured by 95 AD, we would live forever by 120 AD, and we would be exploring Mars and headed for other planets by 85 AD.

By now, we would all be enjoying life. Without religion, the regulators would have had nothing to grab hold of when trying to rule mankind--the parasitical ruling classes throughout the world owe their power and existences to religion. Even the World Trade Organization, which is soon to unleash Codex Alimentarius in this country (and has already done so in many others) owes its existence to religion. Without religion, each and every one of us would have to have done our own work and God's (which would be easy without someone undermining us). We would have to regulate ourselves, and the free market would be the ultimate judgment.

Shame on you, Catholic leaders! Shame on you, Islam leaders! Shame on you, anyone that believes and teaches that mankind is inherently sinful and needs external leaders! I hope you are all happy when YOU get cancer and YOUR regulations and the regulations that YOU helped come into existence prevent YOU from having YOUR cancer cured in one $3 treatment!

    I think I know.

Islam developed the CLNV or the Camel Launched Nuclear Vehicle. They take a Russian nuclear weapon bribed by one of their oil funded psychotic Islamic terrorist groups whom they can pay 50 cents and 72 virgins in heaven to some idiot islamic zealot - of which they have a limitless supply - to mount on his camel and aim the beast with a cell-phone trigger in the direction of Israel.

The only reason it can't be a TCLNV or a Tactical Camel Launched Nuclear Vehicle is that Islamic Terrorists are never picky with their targets.

Yep, it would be VERY interesting to see how much more advanced math and science would be if religion hadn't put a stop to their progress.

Or if the great library in Alexandria, Egypt hadn't burned. All the collective knowledge of the ancient world was lost. That, combined with the Dark Ages 1,000 years of backward ignorance fueled by fundamentalist, fanatical Christians, did more to set back humanity than anything else.

That, combined with the Dark Ages 1,000 years of backward ignorance fueled by fundamentalist, fanatical Christians,

You need to research the role of the Church during the so called Dark Ages. It preserved what little culture or knowledge survived the collapse of the Roman Empire in the West. Without it, the "Dark Ages" would have been much "darker". What written knowledge that survived was copied and transmitted in monasteries, where it was also explained and annotated. There are many great thinkers that participated in this that are too many to list. The University, which would be a nucleus for the Renaissance, was started in the Western churches, usually as Cathedral schools. Christian institutions helped fuel the exit from this period.
