Quite possible - but the very fact that the Bethell artists changed the background surrounding the original Stern- Pascale image shows that the WTS must have had some kind of photo editing software then. Maybe Kurt bethell would like to fill us in here.

Could also be a wisp of hair. I would give this a C- rating as a subliminal.
Much more interesting is why the WT hired a model who also acted in films with lesbian scenes.
