Battlestar Galactica Is Only Wearing Black Until Something Darker Comes Along

    Darkest. Episode. Yet.

Even visually, there are scenes that are so gloomy, they are very nearly
mono-chromatic- overcast with inky blue (of course)

Plot wise... well, if you watched it you understand. I'll not offer any spoilers.
(feel free to comment with spoilers if you have seen it, just warn people first)

Why do I do this to myself? Why do I enjoy shows like this?

There have been a few TV moments that are more heart-wrenching than BSG,
most notably many from episodes of "The Wire", including one scene that quite
unexpectedly made me feel crappier than anything on film ever has.

Battlestar hasn't quite archived that level of pointed despair, but it sure comes
    damn close sometimes.

And I keep coming back for more...

I have seen the show a few times, mostly because Mr. Fiorini enjoys it so much. He likes it because it deals with issues of identity and what it means to be human, as well as how love can change things.

Last night's show was especially dark. Maybe the next few episodes will be a little more hopeful.

Yeah, the show does offer the occasional bright moment of hope and triumph...

And, because they are contracted with the gritty dismal nature of most of the show, they feel
    especially valuable and satisfying.

    I think that's the point.

But still, it's hard to watch sometimes.

The Earth scenes reminded me of some Pennsylvania coal towns in midwinter where I grew up, right down to the gloomy blue-gray sky and mountains. Depressing.

it's amazing that they are allowed to curse with a "close" curse word.... "frack"?

my biggest beef in this countries TV morals is that: you can talk so dirty without saying those "magic words", but god forbid if you show a boobie!

What I especially like about "frack" or "frak"(correct spelling, I think) is that one of those dreary Pennsylvania coal towns I mentioned above is named Frackville. How fitting.

BTW, no insult intended to anyone who grew up or lives in Frackville.

    Indeed.

I know, becuase this last episode, "FRAK EARTH" was spray painted
    on a Galactica hallway wall.

it may be "frakking" not "fraking", i'm not sure...

I also love the plural "Gods dammit" thing
