Wow sixer--I didn't picture you as a Camaro guy. That is a nice one.

I love those. My first car was a 1987 Firebird.

I had an 86 firebird, bought it new, basically the same car with a 6cylander.
It was a very good car. I put a lot of miles on it and then gave it to my son and he took it to Denver and
put a lot more miles on it.
Here is the car I pioneered in, a 1959 Corvette. Mine was red with a white scoop and black interior. Mine had 385 horsepower and turned high twelve second quarter miles.

Congrats, jd on the new wheels. The closest i got was a 74 nova w a 350 in it. Great car, also.
Hey fark, you musta got your pio hours in in half the time, like 50 hours. So, what did you do the rest of the time, beside 'talking' w the hot sisses that musta lined up to ride in your car?

I was at Lion's Drag Strip in Long Beach, California on many weekends, either racing or watching the races. The year was 1969. I was married at the time and occassionally my young bride would take the 'Vette out and blow off a few challengers on the streets of Southern California.
My car had big slicks on the back and was hiked up in back so high, it looked like it was always going downhill! It was even menacing looking. I once asked a Circuit Overseer if it was ok to use that car in field service. He said it was ok, but I should park it several blocks away from the territory we were covering! Now THAT is something that would never happen in dubland today. Hell, I'd probably be before a Judicial Committee for even owning a card like that!

I took the car out on the interstate today, and floored it. Went from 70 to 80 to 90, still going, pass 100, get to 110, still accelerating, but I let off for fear of getting a ticket. I'm confident this car will do 120. Pulled up to a stop sign the other night, and once again floored it to see if it would peel out. It smoked the right rear tire, shifted to second, and kept spinning. This is not a weak car. Plenty of performance for me, but I do miss the deep roar of a v8.
Incidentally, I fixed the air conditioner today. It was simply a vacuum line unhooked from the very back of the engine. Too bad I pulled the dash apart before I started tracing vacuum lines under the hood.
