Just started reading a commentary on Revelation
(Actually still in the introduction, firehose indeed!)
I ran across the term "Prophets Guild" in referance
to Hebrew prophets in particular and all prophets in general
Also that "group" prophesy was quite the norm
I have no question, per se, but just a curosity for the time
(I did order a book "The Hebrew Prophets" by Newsome,
but it's in my reading cue a bit down the road)
Anyone wish to comment or have any insight into this topic
Was this Prophets Guild something like School of the Prophets at Mt. Carmel?
Inferring from similar expressions in French, I would suppose that "Prophets Guild" is a popular translation/explanation of the phrase "the sons of the prophets" and more broadly applies to the early kind of Israelite "prophetism" portrayed in Samuel-Kings (implying communal life, ecstatic phenomena, identification rituals, and so on).
