Best to not let this get out to the public.
They might doubt that the WT teaches the one true religion when the god they worship breaks out in hives and throws lightning bolts at any of his followers who wear denim, of all things.

A town near to us must not have gotten the memo! A small city surrounded by farming community and those woman all seem to wear denim skirts with t-shirts when I see them.
Of course jehoobie also gets giant hives seeing a woman eating with each leg clad in a tube of cloth, instead of in the easy access to baby grobag skirt so beloved of the Gibberin buddy.
well here is a question I have never thought to ask... I have always presumed that dresses are merely the product of the robe/wrap type of fabric attire that all men and woman at one time adorned themselves with.
But why did the "dress" stay with woman and men moved onto pants? What was the societal / cultural reasoning for this? anyone?
Maybe it's because an anagram for "denim" is "demin." Indigo must be an evil color, because there's no prohibition against wearing twill, which is the same fabric as denim, but dyed a different color.
They crack me up the Dubs,I remember in the early sixties I grew my hair "long",by sixties standards,a number of "Servants" and older women had a go at me over several meetings,so I Brylcreamed it like the older brothers used to,the "mature"ones, and combed it in the same style as they wore.
Lots of peole at the Hall congratulated me on getting my hair cut, only to be amazed at the next meeting when, after washing it ,and getting it back into a Beatle style,it was longer than they remembered it! LOL
That didn't go down too well, and I'm sure they were too thick to see the point of the exercise.
In later life, I joined a liberal, almost rebel Congo and grew a beard and REALLY long hair.
In that same Congo the spirit of rebellion still lives on,we had a C.O that we got the word was against denim, about five years ago,so for ALL the meetings one of the respected older sisters, wore a Denim dress, and said let him try and counsel me!
I just loved her for that,he didn't say aword to her though,I think he was forewarned.

I hate that the WBTS allows this by stating that you should be obedient to the customs in your area. They take a hands-off approach. If your local elders don't like sleeveless dresses, too bad. Get some sleeves. No mustaches? Too bad. Shave. You have no choice. Well, you do but it will result in your being ostracized and later ignored by the people in the congregation. There was a brother in our old conregation who had a little patch under his bottom lip. He was a servant but they wouldn't let him do anything because of the soul patch. He can't appeal to the Society because they say to do what the local elders do and leave them out of it.
Retarded.
One last tidbit I forgot to mention.
The CO publicly slammed the elders for not having the Bethel Dress Code brochure up on permanent display in the K Hall.
So let me get this straight Mr. CO, you WANT newcomers to see on their first visit to a K Hall that this cult forbids DENIM?!?
Dude needs to take a class on marketing, IMO.

Grooming "laws" are local jurisdiction issues.
Like easyreader said, if the elders don't like something, then you pretty much can't do it. Like mustaches. One congregation, all the brothers will have them. Go over one or two congregations and the elders there outlaw mustaches the same as beards. I've seen that happen in the same city.
For some reason though, beards are pretty much outlawed across the board in the US...but you can go to Europe and find brothers with beards.
One congregation I was in, denim skirts were allowed for field service and book studies but not to the hall or conventions. Go figure...
I remember two sisters about the age of 18 getting in a world of trouble for wearing spaghetti strap sun dresses to an assembly. You'd have thought they had committed fornication in the hallways the way everyone went on about their dresses. But I went to another assembly and many sisters, aged 16 to 30something, were wearing them and there were no consequences.

Are they supposed to leave that cult bulletin on the board at all times? That may be a good thing. Then people on their first visit see what a cult the JWs are and never come back.
Undercover:
"Are they supposed to leave that cult bulletin on the board at all times? "
That was what the CO wanted. I don't remember that being the direction from HQ, but I could be wrong. I have seen it posted at other K Halls.
"people on their first visit see what a cult the JWs are and never come back".
That's my hope.
