My son has a business, although his crew has not ever worked for him for free, or even taken a pay cut, he has managed to keep them employed all winter building houses, when building new homes is down, and this is Arkansas for cripes sakes.
My son has taken the hit, not his crew. The very same house he built last year, this year pays to him $3,000.00 less. $20,000 less to the builder.
Not everyone that runs a small business is out to screw their employees, get slave labour, etc etc.
They do take into consideration, these men have homes and families and lives that have depended on him to provide.
The crew is loyal to my son and he is loyal to them, when he makes money they make money.
My son also knows that if he does not keep work going for these guys they will find jobs somewhere else.
Not everyone has this mentality you all are posting about.
I think of a time when I was working to get off welfare, there is a time period when you dip below the poverty level as they take away benefits as you earn.
One particular week I had a used furniture company come to my house and cherry pick the furniture he wanted, sold it, to keep food on the table and pay for daycare to keep my job for another week.
I could have given up and gone right back to what welfare was giving me. But I wanted to move on.
Maybe people will see that we are all in this together.
If the restuarant owner did not own the business there would not be employment for all those people, then what would they ALL do?
