Is Jehovah's Witness an official religion?
Or do you consider yourself a club member of the Watchtower Society?
When you fill out paperwork that asks your religion....when you were a Witness...how did you describe the name of your religion?

If I was feeling chatty, I would say that God's name is Jehovah. So we are witnesses of Jehovah God. We strive to live by all Bible guidelines so being a witness of Jehovah is not so much about belonging to a religion as it is a way of life.
Catholics don't can claim to be catholics whether or not they attend their church and even if they don't believe all catholic teachings. A person who is not living up to all Bible standards can't really call themselves a witness of Jehovah. In fact, if someone is not following biblical directives, they can be removed from the congregation. The congregation will not recognize them as members.
Ugghh!

It is a religion, because they believe in a superhuman Being that has rules for us to follow, and they have beliefs about what that Being is going to do with us. They are also a scam because they believe that we were born with inherent sin, and that Jesus' death is the means of redemption (provided you do everything the Washtowel tells you to).
"Jehovah's Witnesses" is a religion. "Jehovah's witnesses" was a way of life.
In many countries they try to be recognize as a religion. And now they consider themselves as the true religion. Poor Rutherford...

"Jehovah's Witnesses" is recognized as a religion by many different governments' definitions. The name "Jehovah's Witnesses" is copyrighted, and functions as a Trademark.
By definition, the Watch Tower Society and every sub corporation, is a business. It functions as a business and files taxes as a business. Some of the Watch Tower businesses are: Banking, Insurance, Publishing, Trucking, Construction, Real Estate Speculating, Farming, Event Sponsoring, Auto Leasing, Medical Advise Counseling, Travel, Multi Media, Advertising, Law, and Political Lobbying.
The "Jehovah's Witnesses", claim to be a-political, but really, by profile, the "Jehovah's Witnesses" are a political action group promoting separatism, subversion, and the failure of all (other) political parties and all (other) governments by advocating for the overthrow or ruin of competing governments and associations.
The "Jehovah's Witnesses" actually originated when an (unethical) attorney stole the assets of a Bible commentary publishing business in 1917 and immediately launched the new owner's political agenda which quickly resulted in the directors' being charged with sedition, sent to prison, and the business closed.
The Rutherford owned business after 1917 was never a "religion" but it was a-religious, calling religion a racket and a snare. Knorr changed the Watch Tower Society to a "religion" well after Rutherford's death.
It depend on whom you're asking --
If you're a dub, it's a religion.
If you're an apostate, it's a cult.
If you're an outsider, it's a nuisance.
If you're the UN, it's a supporter.
If you're a Brooklynite, it's an eyesore.
If you're the government, it's a statistic.
If you're a dictator, it's illegal.
Oops, sorry, made a mistake --
If you're the UN, it WAS a supporter (the WTS withdrew its support when it became publicly known). My bad.
Until 1950 the WTS doctrine was that all religion was false, and thereby the WTS was not a religion. Around 1950, they put forth the new idea that there was true and false religion, and only the WTS was the true religion. I found it quite interesting when talking to jws who were adults before 1950...they found it hard to let go of the idea that the WTS was not a religion.
No - JWs are not a religion, they are a CULT
