There are close to 7 million baptised Jehovah's Witnesses in the world. Most start off real zealous in meeting attendance and preaching work. Some remain zealous but most cool off sooner or later. They become fence sitters(they live double lives) or just go thru -the- motions( they do the bare minimum). For some,it becomes a religious club where you meet and fellowship.

So my question is..........How many of these 7 million so called faithful Jehovah's Witnesses are still zealous....fence sitters...going thru-the-motions?

I say 1/3....for the same reason I say 1/3 or dubs want to go to conventions

    1/3 like the conventions

1/3 go cuz they have to ( kids or mates that are stuck going )

1/3 like the power trip of emptying trash cans during the program or walking around with signs that say "quite please" or "Take your seats"

Most are going through the motions of being very zealous fence sitters.

My father was a fence sitter most of my life, he's recently become a bit zealous (attending more meetings, doing field service, reading at the book study). My mother tries and tries but she just can't stay on the straight and narrow for any length of time (She just loves going to the Indian casino for bunch - maybe getting in a few slot plays and I think she still plays the California lotto).

Quite a few I would imagine go through the motions for appearances and the newly indoctrinated may come off as being zealous for a time,

only to slow down after the ignorance and half truths become apparent .

I would peg the members in my old hall at @ 30% but that varies of course from hall to hall.

RULES and REGULATIONS - Good thread. I feel that as time goes further and further without any Armageddon occuring ( 95 years now since 1914 ) more and more rank and file witnesses are going through the motions due to being dissappointed by " unfulfilled promises " by the WT society. If I had to put a percentage or number on it - I would say that about 60 to 65 % are fence sitters at this point in time or going through the motions. But the problem is the 35 to 40 % who are zealously trying to keep the slacker publishers in line ! LOL! But with time going further into the future without the Big A - I feel we will see the percentage of fence sitters and those going through the motions going up as well

I think 2/3 going through the motions would be generous.

After 125 years, how much of a sense of urgency can one realistically maintain? The WTS rules through fear, not love. I don't have the CDs, in order to cross-reference but I don't need them to know that the message throughout the WTS literature is of fear - overwhelming guilt, the imperative of obeying rules, the threat of the FDS, more and more FS, more control, less free will, more and moreDFing offenses, fear of disobedience to the WTS around every corner, fear of not doing enough, fear of brothers and sisters and or family ratting you out, fear of displeasing the authority figures, fear of so many possible wrong steps.......and fear of Armageddon...............It is very effective in creating robots.......who go though the motions................

I remember I was zealous during the period between when I started studying and about a month after baptism. After that, I saw the religion as not quite delivering what it had promised. Besides, I started getting hounded to pio-sneer, so I realized that, if I did, it would not count (I would be doing it solely to look good), and did not pio-sneer.

After about a year, it was all a fake.
