I hear you Robdar, I'm buying a little "color" myself, these days.

Actually, sometimes I wish I had bought more and then sometimes I worry that I bought too much. What can gold really be worth if nobody can afford to buy it and they are unwilling to trade for it? Right now I'm concentrating on food, supplies, tobbacco and alcohol.

I think gold is a good hedge against inflation. But as with most things, balance is good. If things really go down the poop shoot, a lot of people won't have the ability to buy or trade in gold anyway. Back to beads and shells, I guess.

mmmmm, kraft mac n cheese. delish.

Actually, if you look at caloric content, bang for buck, pork & beans and vienna sausages pack a wallop.

I am just glad that the great tribulation hasn't arrived in the winter or while i was sucking a child.

Robdar, we can learn from the collapse of the Soviet U. Booze was currency. Gold will still be recognized as money, it always has. Coins are the way to go, and what counts is that they are well known like Krugerrands. Don't worry about numismatic value, it is the gold content that counts.
