How Many Here Have Done Extensive Research While a JW or When Exiting?

I LOVED research. I used to pride myself in my knowledge of different Watchtower Society info, especially Organization procedure. So I always enjoyed digging into facts. I didn't look at WT. history with much of a critical eye because I was conditioned to accept "new light vs. old light" and move on. But when I started to see the flipflops----then it became painfully evident that JWs wanted to have their cake and eat it too.

As I was researching "The Truth", I came to the redundant realization that the Witness religion is all poppycock and provably wrong.

Were you/ are you a researcher?

Yes and yes. Reading the Studies in the Scriptures and Rutherford's books was very eye-opening.

I did quite a bit of research when I was exiting but that was it. I don't worry about it now.

Yes, I researched. I wish I would have started sooner but no, I was an obedient dub. They said to not look at apostate info, it was from Satan etc etc. I had finally had enough of thier sh#t and began to look into all the failed prophecys. I came across 586 as the destruction of Jerulsalem, not 607. I found lie after lie and just stopped going.

Yeppers! You can't leave that cult without doing a bit of research.

My wife and I spent a year doing an extensive study before our DA letter went in the mail. But by that time we'd celebrated Halloween, Christmas a couple of birthdays and voted. This was 1988-89 so all the study was done at the library, which had a lot of information.

YES, and I have a 'certificate' to prove it!

This is a part of a letter written by the PO to the Branch about me:

"He reads all the Society's literature but it would appear that this is mainly to find fault,

for example his criticism of the Society's method of dealing with child abuse cases.

He is retired, a highly educated man, who is very computer literate,

and spends considerable time researching on the internet."

How's that for an excellent reference?

But some have left the cult for other reasons like no real love.

Many that leave go through a peroid where they become obsessed with reading and researching. I know I was one of those people. I bought many books during my exit. Eventually I calmed down :)
