Here, we have the metric system, introduced after i learned the inch/foot/farenheit system. Istill haven't got the hang of it, even though it's an easier system. People would also resist your change for the same reason.

IMO the most destructive "off" thing i see in our way of measuring is our rediculous Calendar... it off just enough to interfere (i.e. prevent) with a natural way of life. 13 moons divide quite nicely into 13, 28 day months.
