The wright brothers had there first airplane flight on December 17 1903, and I find it amazing that today flying is so commonplace. When the internet started afew decades ago no body thought it would take off....it was used by only the military, today everyone is hooked up. What other inventions are amazing? Amazing what the future holds, 2010 we will see plasma T.V"s replaced by paper thin flexible screens. {National Giographic mag.}

Not too far off topic but apparently all those big screen TV's we all got - the plasmas and LCD's..well, it seems that they are electricity eaters and it also seems that some groups are pushing for either heavy taxes on the sale of them or banning them altogether in some states. They report that the big screens use up 20% of your electricity.....that I find hard to believe. We went from a regular size to a larger television and our electric didn't go up at all. Anyway..sorry for the hijack..it just came to mind. sammieswife.

Here is something that is available now:
http://www.ted.com/talks/pattie_maes_demos_the_sixth_sense.html
This demo -- from Pattie Maes' lab at MIT, spearheaded by Pranav Mistry -- was the buzz of TED. It's a wearable device with a projector that paves the way for profound interaction with our environment. Imagine "Minority Report" and then some.
