Sorry to here Alpaca...
Just want to say thanks to all of the fair, thought-provoking, and balanced posters here--this board has been a huge help to me....

Alpaca, I think the problem is that you expect everyone to agree with you. I saw the thread and I am well aware of what you are talking about.
Why ask for someone's opinion if you are going to throw a fit if they give an opinion you don't like?
And furthermore, that persons opinion was VERY VALID. That person was trying to warn you of the dangers in undertaking something risky.
Planning a vacation by staying at the homes of various strangers, (couch surfing you called it?) is lunacy.
When you are in an unfamiliar place, and asleep in a strangers home.....you are putting yourself in a most vunerable situation.
I don't think you are using sound reasoning to even consider such a venture.
The photo the person posted showed how a known deranged killer can hold a puppy tenderly and look just as normal as yourself.
There are no visible horns to identify the bad people. They pass under the radar all too often.
This person was only trying to warn you and had your best interests at heart.
You were rather violent in your response to the poster. YOU were the nasty one.
Personally, I would not want to take a chance that any guest in my home would show such a fit of temper, violence, and nastiness that you showed on this board. Just shows, it could go either way. The host or the guest could be a bad bargain.
Have you ever seen the Christopher Walken movie "The Comfort of Strangers"?
Watch that before you embark on such a dangerous journey.
And by the way, instead of acting like an arrogant fool citing someone else as your reason for leaving....I think you owe an apology to Gregor. You also need to learn how to deal with people who don't buy into your idealism and totally agree with everything you say. Also, you showed a lack of appreciation for someone who had a genuine concern for your well being.

Thanks, cameo. Unfortunately, I had not read his response and it appears that thread has been deleted. It does help explain the PM from him I opened this morning which was titled "fuck you" and simply said I was an idiot. I've always considered PM's to require a little more civility then open posts on the board. I thought it was kind of creepy actually. Maybe the people who lend him their couch are the ones who should sleep with one eye open!
The last and only other encounter I've had with him here was two weeks ago on the subject of Global Climate Change (a subject that always gets pretty frisky, lol) when he said -
"Unfortunately, I have to share the planet with ignorant, ill-informed, people like you."
Yes, I agree Alpaca seemed very sensitive being disagreed with. But he is gone now and I release him from any debt of apology.

I don't think he's all there. Also, I find it highly ironic that he's talking about others being negative here.

But Alpaca, you were the one acting a prick. As I stated to you last night, you owe Gregor an apology.
Leave if you want. We will not miss your drama.

Bye Alpaca.
Considering where you served as an elder, I probably knew you in real life. Good luck, and don't stay away too long.

Well, I'm sorry to see you get driven away Alpaca. Seems you can take the apostates out of the hypocrisy, but you can't take the hypocrisy out of the apostates.
