You'll find that the Good News Bible has been revised - the original had some dodgy translation!

I use the NIV and NLT usually. NRSV and NASB are good 'academic' translations though.

For online reference I use www.biblegateway.com - it has other useful bits n pieces too like reading plans.

NIV is recognised as a very good translation, which I now use.

I use the Contempory English Version,published by Harper Collins,ISBN 0 00 220197 6,it is very readable and yet accurate with helpful notes.

I have special affection for my message/NIV bible

When I read the bible, I read the life application bible.

I've been reading it since the 80's and its full of my notes. I plan on keeping it until I die.

But I have read a lot of other translation also over the years.

I have read the bible cover to cover 5 times and like a JW or Christian , here and there,

looking for loop holes and scriptures to support my position all my life.

I never read the New World translation cover to cover,

They are all full of contradictions and confusion.

I just have personalized mine into the life application bible.

If there is a scripture I want to research I can find other translations on the net.

The bible is meant for disinformation and to keep you controlled and confused.
