Hey people, this is WORKING for me! Yesterday, when we were eating in Pollo Loco after field service, two cars, 7 people. (I know, I know, why am I going in service?)

I brought up an experience about some guy in the Yearbook who came into the Truth. I said it was SO encouraging. That was the set-up. Then I said, "So hey, did you see the picture in the WT study this week?" Then I showed them the photo of the Witnesses doing construction.

So I said, "So this shows how smart the Organization is. You know why? Because like in Katrina, when people's houses needed a roof, or some major repair, the brothers and sisters work for free right? And they give the materials for free too, right? So this brother who went to New Orleans told me that what they do is, they ask the Witness who lives there to give the Society the insurance check when their insurance comes through. So when they get a big check, they send it to the Society. And they check just to make sure the person sends it. So the brothers work for free and get the food from the friends, and a place to stay too, right? And so the Society basically just pays for materials, and then they get a check for the entire amount it would cost to rebuild. Pretty smart, eh? So the Society now has money for building at Watchtower Farms, or when someone sues the Society, or whatever. I think its so smart that the Society does that."

So the group just sits there, then one bro says, "So the person gives the check to the Society?"

I said, "Yep. See the Society needs money, right? For whatever they need. So they need a way to make that money. Its not really our business, its the money that Bethel needs."

So anyway, when you say you support the Organization, you can explain so many things that are going on.

    Little by little

That is a very clever way to present it.

Always let them think it is their idea, discovery, etc. That's the key!

I think it cracks the walls when they have to come to the realization themselves. Whereas if you were to show any negativity about WT 's trickery, others would naturally become defensive.

    Very clever, indeed.

It's a perfect example of the bite-and-blow technique. You can blow and bite too.

"So this shows how smart the Organization is." (what a delicious blow!)

"...they ask the Witness who lives there to give the Society the insurance check when their insurance comes through." (ouch! This bite will hurt)"

    "Pretty smart, eh?" (good blow)

Bit and blow. blow, bite. Now, repeat.

    Observador.

What you are doing (fantastic BTW) is a psychotherapy technique known as "extending" and "motivational interviewing".

Extending is taking what someone purports to believe and taking it one step further. The natural response to this is for the person to correct their point of view, either by their statements or inside their head, i.e., "No, that's not what I meant.....what I meant is ________". This is an effective way to resolve cognitive dissonance by amplifying it; it is uncomfortable and it's hard for a person to stay in the dissonant state.

Motivational interviewing is an excellent way to prompt a person to resolve the discrepancies between two things, i.e., their actions and their statements.
