i wish i had a torrents for dummies....i can download stuff, but most of it never can open......and at another site, after i download a few, it says i must upload a stream?.....not only do i not know how, but i dont think i have anything to stream/upload?.........challenged i guess, oompa
hmm, ok. Immediately after downloading this my facebook got phised and I had to do a scan- which removed all kids of viruses and trojans. Perhaps then they were unrelated.
oompa, My friend.
Since I am not a specialist, it is difficult for me to explain the mechanism of torrent.
As you say, if you download a torrent file, you also have to supply that file to other people.
My recommendation is the software "μTorrent."
You need to search it with Google and need to read that explanation well.
Since I do not speak English, I cannot explain to you using English "technical terms."

I second the uTorrent program suggestion. Download it here: http://www.utorrent.com.
Once installed, you can then click on .torrent links/files and it will open up uTorrent to handle the download. Remember, .torrent files are simply information type files that a Torrent program (like uTorrent) uses to download the file you actually want.
drwtsn32,
Thank you for the support.
I always appreciate to you.
You are a very able person.
Your avatar is also marvelous (cool).
Downloading torrents is easy, as mentioned above you need to first download a torrent client, u torrent being by far the most popular out there. Then you go to a torrent search engine like BT junkie, pirate bay or isohunt, search for torrents find them and download. After downloading it's a good idea to scan them with an antivirus before opening them.
Most should be ready to use but some are in a rar format in which case they must be unrared with e.g winrar.
I use firefox as browser, usually bt junkie as torrent search engine and u torrent as torrent client, nero to burn on DVD when so desired. Can't go wrong.
B_Deserter,

isaacaustin,
I hope that that program will be exactly installed in your PC.
