    Jehovah`s Witness`s are a Crazy Cult!..The WBT$ wants nothing to do with them!!...............................OUTLAW

    This is funny.

When I first left, I didn't want to think of my former religion as a cult. That was as much about me as anything.

And I know that up to now, they haven't been a Jim Jones type of cult.

But they are a cult. Protecting their interests, limiting their liability, leaving their flocks holding the bag, the GB most certainly runs a high tech, corporate cult.

Even Unitarians allow their believers to use candles and chalices... Sheesh!

Congregations or individuals should not use logos or names of the organization's legal entities, or variations there of, on their Kingdom Halls, signs, letterhead, personal objects, and so forth. Such use of the organization's logos may cause confusion for public officials, publishers, and others about the legal affiliatiion of the congregation with the organization's legal entities. Similarly, written correspondence could be misinterpreted as being approved or sent from the world headquarters or the branch office.

    That parapraph says it all...

The congregations are not going to be represented by the organization in legal matters. This leaves elders out to hang if someone takes legal action against a congregation body of elders.

I wonder if last years settlement has them scared and looking for ways to distance themselves from local congregations and elders so as to not have to be connected in lawsuits and settlements in the future? If so...if I was an elder, I'd be a little worried that my window washing salary wouldn't be enough to retain legal counel if the a publisher decided to sue the body that I was a member of...

That's kind of the point, though. A potential plaintiff won't bother suing a window washer from whom she has no chance of recovering any money from. Plaintiffs are only interested in suing people/corporations with deep pockets.

Let a few local elders get left holding the bag, all the other elders will note what happened. They would exit in droves. At least, I would hope so. If any elders are actually smart enough to know what all this means legally, (probably a big IF) they would be afraid to sit on a JC for fear of being sued with absolutely no back-up from Mother.

This made me ask another question: If the "Entities" own the halls, but accept no legal liability for them at all, should they still hang on to their "tax exempt status"?

Let's hope the "World" has better lawyers than the WT. You would think since the guidelines for JC's are outlined in their secret sheparding book *barf* they would still be responsible. Of course, they were smart enough not to put anything in writing about calling to report child molestation from pay phones and such. IF there are elders in a state with lax laws about recording telephone conversations, they should record the instructions they get from Mother about these cases. Alabama is one if those states, only one party needs to know the conversation is being recorded for it to be admissible in court.

Sounds like they are dividing the money..

It is beginning to sound like anyone appointed as an elder needs to take an oath that they agree to be responsible left holding the bag if any court cases pop up

The Watchtower is getting quite aggressive in de-centralizing the organization at this point. Appointments of pios are now going to be a cong level job. This is more of the same.

They may be facing some serious dangers here - though I am no lawyer. Could some congregations eventually disassociate themselves and become private churches? They could begin to build a case so doing with some of these manuevers. Of course the Watchtower is trying to protect the money, but might end up bringing about a collapse of the Rutherford empire in time.

Maybe some of them are just trying to take the money (and property) and run?

I can understand why they don't want individuals using their logo, but why would they not want a congregation using it, especially one owned by "a Watch Tower entity"? You can bet it's related to $$ somehow. I wouldn't want to be an elder for anything right now! Way too much liability coming down the pike now.
