A Memorial Invite Was Left On My Porch

...but no one even rang the bell or knocked at my door. There were two vehicles in the driveway and the porch door was open. Why didn't they let me know they were there?

You know why... Much easier service to drop and run, with the excuse that there are too many people to reach with the message tract so they cannot stop to talk.

Was it crumpled up in a paper bag and set on fire at your door?

LOL! No, it was just folded up and set on the porch. I was a jw in a completely different state, so I don't think they could possibly know me where I live now, (unless they read JWN and JWS). We've been here a little more than six years, and I've yet to have one knock at my door. This is only the second time literature has been left here. We have a population of 5,000, so I don't know why these jws aren't covering their territory.

Jamie said, "I don't know why these jws aren't covering their territory."

I almost started a thread on that topic a few months ago because I had so few JWs come to my door and I hadn't seen one in years. Before I could do it they showed up though, so I scrapped my planned thread. LOL

When we were in, all we would hear about is how the JWs were all over the place preaching and doing the work, every two weeks in some territories. There was no doubt in anyone's mind that the world was receiving a thorough witness before Armageddon. We were told everyone knew all about the JWs and their work.

Well, I was really surprised when I left and they rarely showed up at my door. I had moved to a different location from when I was a JW so nobody should have deliberately avoided my door. I never lived in any locked out buildings or private communities so they should have had no trouble reaching me. During almost 20 years of being out and living in several cities in three different states I've had them come to my door only a few times. If they came when I wasn't home, they never left anything in the door to show it.

I can only conclude that the JWs do not cover their territories as often as we were led to believe.

    Hi Jamie:

I just walked in and listened to a message from an inactive JW from out-of-state. He said the JWs came to the door today, but he refrained from answering. He peered out the window as they left and said that the "brothers" were dressed in jeans and work boots.

I was in my house for quite some time before the JWs called on it and they weren't the first either. I started talking to a JW guy and he'd come by quite frequently (I was posing as a guy who had an aunt in and was familiar). But the guy didn't seem too gung-ho and kind of didn't play by their rules (like he didn't turn in time). Haven't seen him in a while. Don't know whether he gave up on me or just dropped out.

Got an invitation to the Memorial once, but my wife didn't tell me. Finally found it about a month later. I think it was from him.

A few years ago my dad was visiting from out of state and he and his wife went to a Hall. I haven't heard from any JWs since. Not sure, but he may have warned them about me.

Jamie, I think it's time for you to get some "No Trespassing" signs... and a couple of these...

Much quicker that way. Just leave your waste of paper in the door. They have to finish this time, because they got in big trouble when most of them were not placed last year--meaning most everyone is going to get their waste of paper this year.

I got one last weekend. I put it where it properly belonged- in the shredder. It makes awesome bedding for my hamster! I think the WT may have found their niche- animal bedding!
