I really want to find that Hassan book, but it's not available on Amazon, ebay, or my local library.

Yeah, i saw on Amazon the new price for the Releasing book is $125. Yikes. Plus Amazon does not actually stock the book; must be out of print?

I gave one to my x husband...right after I read it in the early 90s. He told the elders...they wanted to meet with me.... I DAed. x is still in... but he can't say he doesn't know.

I gave it to a JW friend once. He kept it in his bookbag for about a week. Eventually he gave it back telling me he didn't like Ray Franz because he had wrote a book that was bigger than the Bible and that was something a person shouldn't be doing.
Drew, What kind of excuse is that for not reading a book?? Unbelievable! That is just sad.
Coffee Black, just courious as to what made you read COC? Did someone give it to you, did you hear about it or were you having doubts on your own?

It was recommended to me by a good friend who hosted a support group in Central Fl. I had already come to the conclusion that the borg wasn't "the truth", but COC put things into perspective for me. I got to that point by reading the old literature (I had a nearly complete library of jw publications, going back to the turn of the century) I also had issues with the organ transplant policy...my (elder) dad died of kidney failure during the time that organ transplants were forbidden... and they changed it 2 years after he died.

When I DA'd myself an inactive friend called my up wanting to know what happened and he didn't mind talking to me even though they had already made the announcement. We talked for a few hours afterword he agreed to read COC. He sent me a text message the next week saying that he was shocked and now knows why the Org. is afraid of apostates. Although he is already inactive he is not going back for sure now.
